God I hope so. Berserk is a fucking mess right now. All the characters outside of Guts, Serpico, Farnese, Isidro, Casca, and Schierke need to be cut, there's way too much baggage of shitty characters no one cares about. I hope Casca gets healed and goes off with Guts on a final mission to destroy Griffith, leaving everyone else at Elfhelm where they can be safe.

So what exactly did Griffith's rape do to Casca? I know the rape caused some sort of mental regression but to what stage?
She acted like she likes Griffith when he appeared at the Garden of Swords, hates Guts whenever he gets near but occasionally she starts to warm up to him and whenever she's in serious danger she can protect herself. What the hell is going with Casca? A couple of threads ago I've read that she could be pretending to be retarded.

As far as I remember, she showed no signs of liking Griffith when he appeared afterwards, at least nothing tangible. If she was not repulsed by him, this is because of her mental state. Similarly, she doesn't like Guts because he dragged her around and abused her out of frustration that one time. She does not seem to be able to defend herself in any capacity.

To put it plainly, if her feelings towards Guts were reset, so were her feelings towards Griffith, so how she acted upon seeing him isn't evidence of anything.

I could make the argument that there was some sort of happiness when he appeared but as you said it's really not tangible.

That's not true at all. She killed IIRC 3 people when they tried to rape her. This was the beginning of the Conviction arc. Would find the panel/page but I forgot the episode number.

When she was lost (this was the time Godo's cave was destroyed and Godo's daughter let Casca escape) she was found by or ran into three bandits and they of course tried to rape her. She got loose and grabbed a sword and killed them. As for the Garden of Swords moment, Guts and Zodd were fighting and from the destruction of their battle, some rocks were falling from a cliff and almost caused Casca to get crushed. Newly reincarnated Griffith saved Casca using his space-time abilities.

Sane Casca has no place in the story, nor the party.

She's like lvl 5 warrior in team of mid game lvl 30-40 JRPG party. Isidiro with his magic dagger is more useful than Casca. Casca used to job super hard even back then, and had to be saved numerous times by Guts.

In term of the story, I thought the whole ordeal is that Guts want to live with Casca forever secluded in some mountain. He already forgave Griff, and just want a sane Casca back and protect her forever. That's an endgame goal for Guts.

What's gonna happen is that either she stays retarded, elf ""king""" (female) can't heal her, or she got healed then put on a bus/horribly murdered

He hasn't "forgiven" Griffith, but he has set aside his thirst for revenge, and replaced it with a desire to live out the rest of his life in peace with Casca.

He was planning to stay in Godo's cave with her after the events of Conviction, and simply live there with her, Erica, and Rickert. It was only after Griffith showed up and Zodd destroyed the cave that he began heading towards Elfhell. Even now, he's goal is to live with her there in peace while the possibility of her being healed is an added bonus.

What's really happened is that he's temporarily set aside both his hatred and revenge for the sake of Casca, because ultimately she is and always will be more important to him than anything to do with Griffith.

I don't think he's ever said, or even implied, that he plans on living "in peace."

He says he's torn between living with Erica and Rickert with Casca and chasing after Griffith. He's certainly not obsessed with it anymore. After the fight on the Hill of Swords, he mentions that he an Casca need to find a place where demons can't get them, he cannot continue his journey for revenge with Casca, and that he'll never leave her side again. This all points towards him trying to find a place to settle with her. At least for me.

He most certainly hasn't forgiven Griffith, and would probably go after him if Griffith were within reach, but based on the most recent episode, Guts has set thoughts of Griffith aside and has been focusing 100% on Casca and his comrades.
