Everyone else is gonna blame the JEWS for this, but to be honest this is mostly just America fucking themselves over.

Circumcision used to be advertised not only as a way to avoid infection, but also as a way to discourage masturbation (false advertising from my experience). And since the idea of little Timmy touching his cock ever would have been horrible to early Christian America, it was an easy sell. From there it just passes down to the next generation. I guess you can still blame the Jews for that technically since part of the reason is biblical, but it mostly had to do with Christian sensibilities.
