Those OVAs have a boner for tragedy. Worked well for T&B, especially with that nice OST. Not so much for Reflections. Kenshin OSTs are so good.

The anime is a real mixed bag. There are things it does better and worse than the manga.
Drop the anime after the Kyoto arc and read the Jinchuu Arc in the manga.
After you read Kenshin's Battousai flashback arc, watch Trust and Betrayal.
Then go back to reading the manga and finish the Jinchuu arc.
Ignore all fillers, and ignore Reflection like the fucking plague.
