I guess it's time to drop this. Can't bring myself to care about any of the characters or drama, let alone baseball. The most enjoyable part about this anime so far was seeing pages from the old manga scanned by kind anon in the threads.

I almost wish I had never looked at those scanned pages. The anime already has that disjointedness you always see in badly compressed adaptations, but seeing how the manga handled adaptating stuff just makes the show look even worse.

I haven't read the novel, so I can't say for certain, but you see shows like this when they're cramming a lot of material into a short period of time. Like they're moving down a checklist of major scenes they need to do rather than coming up with a good episode structure.
