I didn't like it at first but I love it after rewatching it.

Wouldn't recommend to anyone that hasn't watched Turn A or like Tomino stuff.
Would not recommend to Gundam fans as they're the ones that hate it the most.

I'm actually really excited to watch it since the weird dynamic hate/love it gets but I want to watch a few older Tomino shows I haven't seen yet. (Brain powered/Gainer) I just finished Zambot yesterday. Although Turn A was my favorite gundam so I'll hopefully really like it.

Same here, I originally watched it while it was airing and didn't like it so much. But after a rewatch after going through some older Tomino works, I generally like it a lot more than before.

After watching it weekly it came out as average. Upon rewatching it, it turned out to be rather good even if cramped in places. The middle is kinda messy but the last third is nothing short of great.

Also Raraiya is legal.

I really liked it. The first couple of episodes are pretty bad and the finale is disappointing as they're really trying to cram too much in to too short a space of time, but I thought for the most part everything inbetween was pretty solid. It was gorgeous though from start to finish though.

I have seen shows much worse and shows much better, but I have never seen a show that generates the amount of conflict that G-Reco can bring.

I really wanted to love G-Reco but in the end, I couldn't.

It felt like a fun adventure and looked like it was building up to something great when they got to the Venus place. After that, it just sort of ended and I was expecting a Victory-tier finale where shit went crazy on the descent to Earth.

I think G-Reco is a great example of how sakuga can be bad.
G-Reco's problem is it's sheer density, all the stories, characters, music, animation, everything is so densely packed.
Imagine if G-Reco was a musical piece, all the instruments would play so fast and so loud, you can only hear noise.

I liked the early episodes as well as the finale, but there was chunk in the middle where I just didn't care at all.
Bellri is one of my favourite Gundam protags.

Imagine if Mask had more attention on the show, the scene where Manny tries to tell him Bellri is a good person and Mask goes batshit over every little detail somehow becoming proof that Bellri is turning into Hitler is awesome.

What happened to the days where Gundam protagonist understood that their enemies had to die for peace to be achieved?

Raw, unfiltered Tominoisms is already too hard to handle for surface level fans, and above that, It felt like a 50 episode series squished in half.

It was fun at parts, really dull at some, and straight up confusing at others, but I enjoyed it overall, but it definitely was messy.

G recommend would of been better as it's non gundam concept, a few earth civs fighting space battles over the last remaining solar batteries in existence. There was more to it than that but that's what I remember, there's a fuckin of concept art for this too

Hated the dialogue, was reminded of Tomino's inability to write human females, and thought the plot was messier than it had to be.

I'd recommend it to diehard Tomino fans but I didn't think it was a very good entry in the Gundam franchise and probably one of his weakest works.

Then it wouldn't be a Tomino show.
Part of his most used themes is "people not understanding each other". With Mask it is just more extreme because he doesn't even WANT to understand Bellri or his narrative would crumble.

G-Reco was my third Gundam and I loved it, the designs, animation, style were all amazing and I really didn't get people's issue with the directing/story, I had no trouble following along but I guess I was watching while it was airing so I may have experienced it differently.

I haven't watched it yet. Can someone explain what makes it worse than Turn A or Victory or Zeta?

Imagine if the show was about Mask's slow transformation into a hatred fueled war machine.

One of the things I noticed on rewatch was that Luin tried to cling onto Bellri at the beginning, I think it's because of how Bellri is "privileged" and Luin thinks he can ride that to success.
Mask wasn't hostile to Bellri at the beginning, that hostility develops as Mask fails to capture the Megafauna over and over until it becomes an obsession.

It didn't really were anywhere, finale was underwhelming.
The characters were underdeveloped, especially Luin and Raraiya who, I felt, got really shafted in the second half. It felt like something was missing.
Genius-kun was the only truly good thing about this show.

Plus it was nice to have a new series that wasn't set during already covered eras / yet another 0079 or Zeta rehash.
