I'd argue that what while Mori, like the vast fucking majority of manga artists, has many flaws germinating in the fact that they work in the manga industry, I still feel like her obvious care and devotion to her material makes her art remarkable to view.

In a piece like OPs, I see less technical detail and more a love for the subject. Someone like Miura is just overcompensating for mediocre linework, however. His detail gives his art needed depth, while Mori's shines a love for the subject matter. I feel like it's a decent picture to be shown when discussing good popular manga artists.

But I do understand. The "more detail equals more good art" crowd on /a/ gets worse with every year. People DON'T recognize what makes a Samura a greater artist than a Miura or a Katsura.

This. The op picture is not just only an appreciation of another culture, it's about inclusivity and the bonds of that culture. The characters sit in this sea of detail, but are also in harmony with it, not overwhelmed by it. It's comforting and enclosing.

Giraud's piece is stark and alien. It evokes curiosity and dissociation. It's nearly the exact opposite of what Mori appeared to be going for.

There are a lot of good art around when it comes to manga but I feel that Mori impresses by sheer devotion to her work. Because one thing is giving high detail to trivial things that we see on our every day life, other thing completely different is giving high detail to things of a different culture and time that most people don't even know it exists.

Have you ever thought about how much research she does on that stuff for the manga? Just think about the amounts of hours this artists spent learning about this culture and trying to capture its visual essence in its smallest details. Thats why Mori gets so much praise, she deserves it.
