i found the ending to be very emotional too, it was like it all happened for no reason. when that song starts playing at the end when saki's talking to squealer... it was cathartic. lots of things to ponder on from a logical and emotional standpoint

This is probably the only anime to ever make me angry.
Maria was so stupid.
It also sucked that the MC (Saki?) kicked so much as a kid then started to regress into the weak heroine role once she came of age.

I still shudder when I think about how Maria and the other kid were killed by Squeler off screen. That's probably the thing that stuck with me the most.
