Its not like your sister getting raped, its like if your friend wrote a story about you which includes you watching your sister get raped. Nobody likes to get screwed around and hurt by an author who has in their control to not write such horrible things. Especially when that sort of story isn't what the readers initially signed up for. I don't like watching strong characters whom I admire being degraded in such a way. If an author takes that path and I drop their work that's completely their fault, not mine. Has more to do with authors having respect for fans and readers than the actual scenerio written in the novel/manga.
