I think Fuu is a real cutie, even if she did piss me off occasionally
They don't smell like anything and that was the point. Sunflowers are foreign, so a "samurai who smells like sunflowers" would be a native japanese who was somehow affected by something foreign... something like, say, christianity. It's intentionally vague so Fuu or anyone else asking about it wouldn't be obviously associated with the japanese christians who were, at the time, being repressed.
They explain this in the show, kind of.
They explain one piece at a time throughout the series, so it's real easy to miss. Off the top of my head I think the gay dutchman explains sunflowers, the crazy priest episode explains christian persecution, and the sick mom tells Fuu what her charm means.
Still has one of the best soundtracks in anime. It's the first and only anime where I actually bought the OSTs for. One of may favorite EDs of all time, listening to it again makes me feel nostalgic as fuck.
Now I'm gonna have Nujabes playing in the background all night.
Am I the only one that got pissed as hell with the how this ended? I mean what was the point of all of the shit they went trough if they didn't stayed together at the end, I know it doesn't make sense that they would but come the fuck on
