>styarted reading Berserk as a teen
>only a few weeks have passed in their universe
>mfw now Guts is younger than me
Possible coming stuff for Berserk
>Elf King is healing Cascas retardness
>shortcut on Casca eyes showing her lost her retardness
>10 years timeskip
>Guts and his JRPG party is well known as only enemys against Griffith and Falconia
>only a little percent of humanity is still alive outside of Falconia and live a life full of struggle
>a young girl from a totaly by demons destoryed village is start her trail to find out more about the legendary Black Swordsman and his party in a world full of death and dark fantasay
Then Miura offical pass Berserk to his assistance and play the new [email protected] till the end of his life
>finally talking to the one who can cure Casca
I haven't thought of it in years, it hurts to be this close.
His senses are dulled because he's been electrocuted, burned, stabbed, and overpressure'd multiple times within just a few months, not to mention all the stabbings and slicings he's had.
I always find it weird to picture Guts as any younger than 30.
>started reading at 12 together with my dad
>dad dropped the manga and I kept going
>Now I'm 27
>Dad asks about Berserk and how it ended
Miura isn't Kubo, there are still multiple plot threads outside of the main party.
>Rickert goes to Barikara village
>Feminine Elf Dick cures Casca
>She reveals that only Rickert has the key to defeat Griffith by reuniting the original Band of the Hawk or some shit
>Another 7 years on the boat to sail back
Aside from the visual symbolism of the hawk's wings holding back the Pandemonium of demons from humanity, it's pretty obvious that the demons will escape and attack the city, right? Will we get a third eclipse/sacrifice/ceremony?
boss fight in the arena with guts VS everyone
anon we might be on cusp of developing life extension technology. This might allow miura to live much longer, allowing him to work at his own pace. We might even get to see the end of berserk within a century or two.
He looks like he is in his late twenties though.
He was 15 when he joined the Band of the Hawk, 17 when he left, 18 when the eclipse happened, 21 at the start of the Black Swordsman, a couple of months later is the latest chapter.
That's what fightings demons do to you.
What would that accomplish, exactly? Berserk isn't about edgy shit just for the sake of it.
But you did mention the stabbing
But guts got some cool powers from it. Kind of like spoderman's origin story but instead of being bit by a radioactive spider, he got raped by a wise magical nigro.
I'm catching up on the 2016 anime right now and honestly it's the most unintentionally funny thing I've ever seen. Every time Guts hits something with his sword I just burst out laughing. That CLANG is so goddamn funny.
It's kinda sad because the 2D shots are so well done, and the 3D portions (i.e. most of the anime) is so terrible. It's worse than the movie trilogy.
>The start of black swordsman arc to the last chapter takes a couple of month
This is my source:
Looks like i got some of the ages of Guts mixed up but he's definetly 21 at the last chatper.
There was a 2 year time gap after the eclipse but before the stuff the anime covers, where he presumably did the stuff from volume 1-3.
After surviving the Eclipse, Guts and Casca is take to Godo's place, where Guts receives Dragonslayer and mows down the pitbull apostle.
Then there's a time skip and we see Guts walking into a village where he meets Puck and kills the cobra apostle.
Then we have the part where he fights the skellies, then the part where he fights against the count, and then the lost children arc.
Immediately afterwards, Guts encounters Farnese, Serpico, and her crew, which then led to the tower of conviction arc.
Then Guts returns to Godo's place, where he meets Griffith and has a fight against Zodd again.
Then he, Puck, and Casca walk off and during this time, Guts basically loses track of her, she almost gets raped by bandits and Guts under the effects of the hound, and then a little afterwards, he meets up with Farnese, Serpico, and Isidro who join up with him.
A while later, they meet loli witch joins up and they kill some trolls, Guts meets the new band of hawks, then he receives the berserker armor.
They travel to a port city where they meet Roderick and Magnifico, there's a siege, Guts and Zodd blast through a cloud apostle's forehead as lightning trails around them, then they get on a boat.
They meet mermaid chick on an island, Magic returns to the world, they reach Elf island, and here we are.
All within a few months, give or take.
I want to see Theresia make a return.
>reuniting the original Band of the Hawk
They're not reuniting any of them without a shovel and some super glue...
You cunt, you know what I mean
The most I can hope for from Berserk 2016 at this point is that it reunites the dub cast and brings us one more outtakes reel
RWBY at least does well with action despite being a part of an indie studio.
Berserk 2016 feels so, stiff.
that fucking gif has better animation
what the fuck went wrong
He was 15 when he joined the Band of the Hawk, 18 when he leaves again, 19 when he re-joins to rescue Griffith and then the Eclipse happens. He is 20 when he kills the Count and 21 when Tower of Conviction happens, he's still the same age in the last chapter.
Will we ever see guts look so intimidating again?
>you will never seduce Miura, marry him, and the use your feminine wiles to convince him to make Griffith the protagonist.
He is 59 years old now, he used to read Astroboy, Akira, Berserk and he started reading devilman but thought it was way too fucked up for his taste (I know we were reading Berserk but eh whatever)
He introduced me to Ghost in the Shell and Jin-Roh, then when I was 15 my parents divorced , he pretty much was done with manga, never knew why when the reason of the divorce was because he cheated my mom with other women.
He got way too serious but sometimes ask what is happening in the manga anime scene, trying to convince him to read One Punch Man at least.
Well he can still marry and have kids, friend of mine fathers had his last kid at 60's kek
Don't think I started until around my first year of high school. Watched the anime first though.
Get the G_P copy of the bd on baka
>Draw a 30 year old man
>Call it a 21 year old boy
>Had the Remastered dvds
>Gave them to a friend as a graduation gift without realizing that they're rare now
Presidents age faster than normal people, so it stands to reason that a man who fights demons with a 400lb sword every night of his life for over 2 years would look a bit old for his age.
Lack of sleep and stress (both physical and emotional) can prematurely age just about anyone. Just look at how old some of those 18-25 year old athletes looked during the Olympics.
All the female elfs nipples are covered
>looks like a hardened and serious older male
>is actually a very tender and loving guy (when the situation permits it) in his early twenties
Fucking love male gap moe.
you fucking nigger, he didin't wrote shit for like a century, how could he be" going soft" ? that's from 6 years ago, but it's just last arc. He didn't write shit between this and now.
A busty ara ara milf is actually desirable though. What gambino would do is pay her to take guts virginity and form a connection with him. Guts would enjoy it and eventually like her. Then gambino would fuck her in front of guts one day, forever cucking him as a young boy. Then guts would end up with an NTR fetish.
Look at that back, those traps. Cas' tits are way too big for her muscularity. Miura's human figure generally looks fantastic, however this is one discrepancy I have with him. It looks weird.
People can look older, and people can look younger than their actual age.
I'm not sure why this is seen as a crazy idea.
>He has grey hair.
Yeah my aunt went grey when she was 12, and my wife start going grey when she was 13. Aunt was adopted and treated like trash, wife had constant death threats in junior high and high school. At least wives hair only has one part grey, left hand side bout a inch section.
>His face looks older.
What is stress? In midevil times or even the past people looked older than they should have. We look a lot younger today at 20-30 then people used to. It's almost as if severe living conditions, working conditions, and stress can prematurely age people.
Given another 100 years i'm sure the 12 year old looking 30 year olds will look back wondering how we all looked so old.
Hell since I start working in a mine and on haul trucks/shovels for the past 5 years it looks like I fucking aged 20 years some days.
The fact that no one of the god's hand has died unnerves me, don't know why, maybe because when I was introduced to them I thought of them as boss fights.
Also, when will we get Skully backstory?
We know what Skully's backstory is, it's obvious. What I want to see is when the fuck is he going to stop getting drunk and crying about breaking the world, which is probably what he's doing, and bone the fuck up.
Poor guy might have accepted the idea that Femto's got fate on his side.
>Offended weebs flock to the defense
This isn't reddit, guys
What are you even trying to accomplish?
I don't even really know to be honest
I guess that's what unnerves me, that they're literally untouchable, I fear that the only way that they can get rid of them is through an asspull. If they get rid of them that's it.
Ye but clearly something happened between him and Void, I'd like to see that
Thought you were trolling.
>pre retard Casca
it all seems like a distant memory
Fun fact: Average life span actually hasn't changed that much as you think.
They used to include infant deaths, which brought down the average lifespan drastically.
For example: If everyone lived to 50 then died suddenly but 500/1000 babies died before childbirth or at childbirth the average age would be 25.
If everyone still lived to 50 then died suddenly, but only 100 babies died at age 0 then the average age would be 45.
That said we stopped including infant mortality and back then life spans weren't as short as we used to think.
Another factor is when talking about health; there is debate whether accidents or violence should be factored into lifespan.
I.e. if out of 1000 men 500 die due to working conditions or an accident/violence, and the other 500 live to 70's, we would say the average lifespan was like 50.
However when we talk about lifespan and start talking about "That's like middle age at age 20" we are assuming people had an average age of 40 due to dying of natural aging.
When you factor out accidental deaths of the past and infant mortality, even with all the great advancements of medical care etc, we have effectively raised the actual average lifespan by about 15-25 years depending on the statistics used. I.e. 60 vs 78.
>They used to include infant deaths, which brought down the average lifespan drastically.
Yeah that's true. You can see that most of "important" ancient people that died of natural causes were older than 60 and 70.
I miss her desu family
Yup. Now it's fine to include infant deaths under a different category, but when you tell people the average lifespan was 30(Some cases 26, some cases 36) back then, they imagine either people look like 70 and had cancer at 30, or just people died due to medical issues.
People do age faster due to stress, and other issues, but even with all medical advancement we haven't done that much in the lines of how long you'll live.
So, Guts compared Gaiseric to Griffith early on, since they did sound similar. Now SK and Guts are almost one in the same. I wonder if Void was the Guts to Gaiseric's Griffith during their time as humans.
If I had to wager a guess Id say there is a higher power but it doesnt give a fuck about what goes on in the world so long as the world tree doesnt get fucked up. If it exists it probably has some connection to the tree
The Berserk movies reminded me of how much I loved the 97 version.
Berserk 2016 made me feel that the movies weren't as bad as I previously thought.
I wonder what they'll release in a few more years that will make me look at the 2016 version fondly.
It was already explained.
There is no "God" in the sense that you might be familiar with.
I.e. no creator god.
God's in berserk would be more akin to Greek gods. In the sense they didn't create the world.
However magic exists, and with magic existing a god can come into being.
The god in Berserk is the Idea of Evil. Came about as something to blame for humanities suffering on, the embodiment of evil.
Remember: Many religions exist. Some even have afterlives, magic and all that bullshit but no original creator. Some have a creator but no afterlife.
Berserk seems to take place obviously in a semi analogous place as our world does; where Christianity exists as do other religions but there is no truth to them. Their truth comes from magic existing creating circumstances that lead to these religions.
We will see a lot of "Gods" but in Berserk "God" basically means an incredibly strong entity.
As for the god hand, each of them individually would be seen as a god if you compared them to greek gods, some even greater and the idea of evil even greater still.
>Griffith's kingdom fantasy.
I still don't get this
Wasn't the world already filled fantasy creatures?
What's the point of merging those layers if that's the case? Just have some extra fantasy creatures?
There is no god, only the Idea of Evil.
Note that the representation of religion has either been polytheism where the gods are actually naturally-occurring creatures (in their world, at least), or the monotheistic religion of the Holy See obsessed with the punishment of sins and heresy.
The monotheistic religion is simply the projection of the Idea of Evil unto others as a means to an end. Farnese burning heretics at the stake, Mozgus torturing heretics- all of it was A-OK because the others were evil.
The polytheistic religions are still based upon the known historical basis of humanity trying to explain the natural forces around them. Trolls and ogres, children running away to live with elves, all of it is fairy-tale shit trying to explain the unexplainable.
The Lost Chapter summed it up pretty clearly- humanity created the Idea of Evil to give a reason to the random chaos of the world. And that's where the causality of the universe leads to Guts and Griffith.
Griffith was created/molded by the Idea of Evil. He represents the social constructs of humanity- he desires control in all forms, he knows the inner workings of courtly intrigue, he literally is a religious symbol, he co-opts the hopes and dreams of people for his own. Griffith is what separates humans from beasts, both in the figurative sense and through the control he exerts over the war demons.
Guts is the opposite. He is the mad dog who only knows violence and survival. He fights like an animal and does not care for society or religion in the least bit. Working in the Band of Hawks, every time Griffith tried reasoning or warning him about his upcoming mission, Guts only needed to be told what to do because he's the primal instinct that does not reason. A dog does not question what it does, it only does.
Fucking hell, I'm writing a thesis here. Thanks anons for giving me something to do with my recent unemployment.
I still prefer the 97 version as far as pacing and actual content went, but the hazy bluish tone was a cool choice.
when I first read through it I thought it ended at volume 37 and was satisfied with it
>the suffering when I saw it was still going but could take decades to conclude
Would you do what Griffith did if you were tortured horribly for a year and basically turned into a helpless cripple for the rest of your life? Would you be able to resist the offer to be reborn as an almighty demon lord?
Well if I could be eternal I would realize any bad feelings of betrayal or people hating me, or guilt would be but a fleeting forgotten memory as centuries pass.
So yeah; don't even have to torture me.
My love for that dub
is like a truck.
>You didn't notice Casca put on a dress for the celebration did you?
>Yeah... I think she digs you man...
Laika usually excels in a more stylized approach to characters, but I think they could make something genuinely terrifying related to Berserk if they really wanted to.
Laika would have the best demons ever.
Everything else would be a shit.
One of my favorite things about the Berserk outtakes is that they keep playing the god-tier dramatic music in the background
How's it feel know your dad will be on his deathbed and ask for the ending, and you'll have to tell him it wasn't finished and he drops dead right there. Will you scream Miura?
>I still think the new art is almost as good
No it's awful.Guts goes from skinny to football player huge in between panels on a regular basis.
I would like to believe that I would have the decision making skills to never get to that point by not letting the most important person of my life walk away completely unknowing of their importance, fucking the only pussy in the country that could get me put in jail, or mocking the king to his face.
I feel like most of these are common since and a solid 2 would have stopped the events from happening but hell yeah. I'd be fucked and just along for the ride after a year of horrid torture. Honestly I'm surprised Griffith did so well after being saved and not post-eclipse Casca level fucked up
>post yfw you realise the last word casca said was 19 years ago
>post yfw her first words are "...Griffith?"
Fucking hell anon why did you remind me
I loved Judeau and Corkus.
Corkus for being a realistic cynical foil to Guts's desire to give up everything in his romanticized desire to stand as an equal to everything Griffith had accomplished.
And Judeau for being a bro. Just a plain genuinely good guy.
I know this is gonna sound bs, but about ten years ago (around the time they first met that naked kid) I decided that i would let some chapters build up before reading more since the pacing was so slow.
"I'll pick it back up once they get to the elf king" I told myself.
At first I ignored berserk threads, but kept hearing about the boat, and as the years passed I would always slip into berserk threads and post "are they in elfenheim yet?" As a clear reference to "are they still on namek"
Well, over the weekend I caught up. I'm shocked at how little got done story-wise for such a long period
I had known about hiatus and idolmaster, but it was still shockingly little plot advancement save a few concepts.
Now I'm at this crossroad again. I'm thinking of dropping it entirely until it ends. During these years I moved countries, returned to school, got a college degree, married, had two kids, bought a house. Should I just set the clock for my retirement?
Sorry bb, got it here and never bothered to look up a better one
Please accept pic related as an apology
I went years without reading anything on it as well, but now that they're finally on the verge of healing Casca I feel like I have to stay caught up.
Even if the series never finishes I want to see that much.
Admittedly liked the Blood and Guts track more when I thought it was saying "God Hand, God Hand."
Speaking of Azan, why the fuck is Miura keeping him around?
It was bullshit enough that he survived the Tower of Conviction.
I don't know what would be worse, Azan still around without doing anything or suddenly getting some relevance in Guts's already crowded as fuck party.
This scene was the BEST scene in any of the three movies. It's so well done that it bumps the first movie from trash to watch-able trash.
I never saw Judeau get friend zoned. He was such a bro and he just wanted what was best for Casca and Guts. He's the one who set them up anyways. Do you guys think that Judeau didn't get pussy on the regular? He's not one of you, /a/.
The more I look at this the angrier I get.
Look at upper-right guy's posture and muscle layout. He looks like shit!
Jesus, look at the calloused spots, or lack thereof. Look at those fuggin subtle callouses drawn on their skulls- GONE! Their skulls are completely different shapes, too. Look at bottom-right. What the fuck.
I don't mind him that much because at least he doesn't take up much time or is heavily involved in the plot. I think that would annoy me. My main problem with him (and to a lesser extent Isma) is that they're not going to go away anytime soon; it makes no sense to kill him as it wouldn't really have any impact on anything and unless he ends up being crucial to the plot for some reason he's just going to be sitting there for the next 50 chapters or so
Hope there is afterlife if that happens.
>yfw there is a lot of anons and old people that passed away before Guts left the boat
Wait what, I don't remember this, when?
Golden age when Guts was deciding to leave the band if I'm not mistake, Griffith was turbo homolust for Guts
>He doesn't double chet his posts to ensure that his semtences make sense
>implying that wasn't deliberate to trigger you
FUn fact: Goku and eggman managed to do their most well known voices before they even voiced those characters.
Too bad I was using http://www.ddginc-usa.com/can-you-read-this.htm so it was indeed a ruse and you fell for it
I changed one word manually to ruse you, dumbass.
Pretty sure she was around 12 when she joined, then at least a few years between then and the Band seeing Guts fight Bazuso. She's in her late teens at the youngest pre-Eclipse.
Anyone else gonna be sad with the obvious "wheelchair" ending for berserk, where guts accomplishes his goals, but he's left blind and paralyzed while caska feeds him? He can still talk and all, just no walking and he's blind.
No, he's gotta have a half happy ending. He's been through enough. I'll settle for no walking and eyesight, as long as he gets non-retarded caska back. She's gonna be loyal as fuck after what guts has been through just to keep her safe and return her sanity.
>She's gonna be loyal as fuck
Or something good happens for once and they fix her ez pz but she doesnt feel that way about guts anymore. That would be more like Berserk, dont you think?
When has guts ever received satisfaction for anything in his life?
I don't get you eternal suffering people. What has Guts ever done wrong? Where is his hubris? You can't have a tragedy without hubris or some monumental fuck up.
>inb4 the Eclipse
If anything, that'll be the root of Griffith's downfall. His rape of Casca was that ego driven choice that will come back to bite him in the form of magic babby.
Never but I don't think she'll have lost feelings. Maybe permanent memory loss and he has to win her over, or she goes to kill Griffith herself and gets offed trying to protect guts. Something. I dunno. Some things gotta work out for him.
I get that point. He's a straight up murderer after all, and karma (if it exists in berserk) has been fucking him in the ass dry. Maybe it's the attachment to guts, but you gotta want SOMETHING for the guy. Some kinda peace. The struggler needs to rest.
The peace I want for him is to get revenge at Griffith even if it cost him his life.
I wanted him a happy ending with Casca but that is unlikely.
As for us, I just want a fucking end whatever it is. We need closure.
Yeah I suppose the accidental murder of Adonis and doing Griffith's dirty work would be tragedy material but I really doubt they'll ever come back into play because those moments have never really haunted Guts. Its not like those literally set in motion the events of the story. They were more like loose ends that were tied up.
Nah, I just think it's alright to have some light to contrast with the dark parts in the manga.
It would get pretty boring if it was suffering for Guts the entire time. There's probably going to be some fucked up stuff happening soon anyways.
Suffering isnt the only thing that happens though. Miura's pretty good at sprinkling in the satisfaction. The first thing I think of is when guts held schierke when they first got to the beach. That was a really sweet moment.
i haven't read berserk in a long ass time. i remember however just before the eclipse the fortune teller lady that gave griffith the crimson behelit mentioned something about rickert being the child of prophecy or some shit. has that been expanded upon at all or has it been completely ignored since? what if rickert defeats griffith while guts saves casca?
>Suffering isnt the only thing that happens though
Anon, buddy, I said it would get boring if it was suffering the entire time. Didn't think I said it is.
Miura has already said he doesn't want to leave the story with a sad ending, my guess is guts ends up crippling himself to kill Griffith and it ends in a house with casca taking care of him, like in Griffiths dream right before the eclipse
Why hasn't their been a more recent picture of him? he's fifty now and this was taken a thousand years ago, even more strange is why do only 2 pictures of him exist??
My question is the following: how can he even kill Griffith?
