My thought as well. DIO was hyped a lot and his reveal was pretty awesome,but he was only there for the end and acted really like a big boss at the end of a game.
Kira was introduced much later but was much more present in the actual story and knew a real evolution. He is much closer to the reader but also less dramatic and impressive because of that.
So we could argue that Kira is a villain that's on par with his character and so is DIO.

Just watched this after having it in my backlog for many years.

I liked the second half, but I fail to see why /a/ worships this show so fervently
