Reminder that Gon had complex motives for killing Pitou.

Not particularly. I don't think he ever mentioned a desire to kill Pitou until after she told him that Kite was long gone and she had to kill Gon for the king's sake. What he did afterwards was deliver judgement to himself as penance for believing he got Kite killed and to Pitou for being a "liar" and murdering Kite. Chapters 305 and 306 express this clearly.
