How come animelist ratings are always so high. I understand opinions on a certain anime vary from person to person but I've looked up tons but almost every anime I found bad and are rated bad on anidb are rated quite high on animelist.
Because they're literal 12-year-old children voting.

Fuck off to MAL if you want to discuss MAL.

Make me, bitch!

MAL's userbase is lowest-common-denominator. Usually they're overly generous, but in other cases (NGE and, at least in my opinion, Jinrui) too harsh because they were too dumb to understand it.
I use MAL to keep tabs on what I'm watching and plan to watch and nothing else. The community is a barren wasteland of middle schoolers.

Imbeciles just like OP.

TV Tropes Warning
They all watch the same things. If you like something that is outside the top 200, say (and you will), it will be treated like an obscure also-ran, while the list of all-time greatest animu will be about 60% shit that came out in the last two years.
I don't have an account there, but I go there to check up on a series if I'm unsure whether or not I should watch it. When I checked today, Your Lie in April was the 14th greatest series of all time, which is insane. Most of the userbase clearly just watch whatever has the highest ratings, then just agrees with them, until the groupthink is unconquerable.

Fuck. Next time put the warning before the link.
I guess I'll see you all in a week.

Fuck off!

Well, if you spend more than a minute giving a score to a show you're doing it wrong.
