Honest thoughts on the Fate series?

The spin-offs are better than the VN.

Main series is okay, if not a little edgy, but otherwise to many spin offs and side stories to keep up with.

Carnival Phantasm, Kara no Kyoukai and Prism Illya are the best Type-Moom series. No contest.

I liked both anime but I like Zero better, and I refuse to waste any more hours of my life on the VN after trying half a route and hating it.

Interesting premise, poor execution. The doujins and spin-offs like prisma ilya are better because they at least don't take themselves too seriously and know how to have fun.

It wasn't the story really, I just don't like the VN medium itself. It's bloated with SoL and superfluous dialogue, maybe it makes for better immersion in the end but it's too time consuming and tedious for me to stick it out.

Love the concept, love the characters and their designs. The writing on F/SN wasn't exactly one of the best, mostly because of how lenghty all explanations were.
