In the game Tohma is already more or less adjusted to his circumstances and his role is more proactive.

He actually started interesting in FORCE but then became an overpowered edgy McGuffin for a full year of chapters abd after all tgat hype he never did anything relevant and got his suppossedly powerfull ass handed to him by a goofy villain even after he essentially defeated an upgraded Nanoha and took the combined efforts of 4 powerhouses to take down. Oh and his morality is all over the place, trying to make friends with the guys who had been salughtering the people looking up for him. Kind of an edgy shitty written version of Steven Universe.

Sad truth is if he was a female tomboy to be paired with Lily Force would be as popular as Vivid got to sell around 80k per volume than have that dimnishing number to 30k till the hiatus struck with another retelling of S1.

People watch the series for badass characters, it's all about exposure. People care for the guys when they appear and are written well but its the author's choice to give focus to the girls. Nobody thinks often about Tien bevause he rarely does anything but the moment he stalled Cell (didn't even win, just stalled) everyone rooted for him. Nobody thinks about Zest now but i assure you if he appeared now and do something badass everyone would be wetting themselves in excitement.

Nobody was pissed Vita and Signum were defeated by a man. They were excited about this badass as fuck character that shaken the status quo and seened to fight for a significant motive.

As shitty as FORCE was. Characters like Veyron and Hades raised expectation and even some awe and Kurt also had nice reception. A character have more to them than just the thing inside its pants.

I actually liked them a lot they were pretty refreshing for FORCE and the franchise as a whole. Kurt was an amusing character, he's a real goofball but also seemed a bit smarter than his behavior suggest, Mariya, Quinn and Lolo are also pretty interesting. Definetely would've liked to see what's their journey in the middle of everything occurring during FORCE.

And i'm confide.t the show would've lasted at least two awesome seasons which looking at the current state of the franchise it might be even for the greater good. At some point they stopped writting characters and just started wrotting hollow eyecandy to fap and while that was always a thing it wasn't the main goal. Yuri/Loli focus killed the franchise. Make them all girls for all i care but make them walk epic journeys instead of just giving puppy eyes and ship between themselves. I felt bad the moment i fell asleep reading ViVid. I shouldn't fall asleep reading something Nanoha related.

The story was fine and the characters were actually workable. Tohma started faorly well. Everything up to Signum getting shanked was pretty good build up.

Tohma and his gang going their own path for a bit longer would've been really interesting. The prospect at seeing the old cast observed from a different perspective was amusing but they plaued too safe.

Tsuzuki had good ideas but hadn't the gut to go all the way with those and thus it felt half-assed.

I feel bad for Tsuzuki. From the content of his interviews around the time FORCE came out it seems he truly put a lot of thought on that story abd felt proud of his job. He was so enthusuastic about the new characters and the challenges for our known heroes.

As soon as they gave it over to Aniplex for managing like so many franchises are randomly and inexplicably doing the writing was on the wall. Strikers didn't help either. It's long past it's prime and into the full on milking whatever fanbase is left stage anyway.
