It went absolute kino once the credits started rolling. If nothing else, the entire episode turned out to be a shitshow for Subaru, especially since he spent a life and effectively accomplished nothing except to get all of his friends killed once again, especially Rem who was mutilated before him. It was also pretty cool to see the frozen ending come into place after the cold room inside the castle was revealed in the last life. The episode did a great deal to show how Subaru has failed magnificently, and the crowning moment came with Subaru's decapitation. Still probably the highest moment the show's experienced, though I'm feeling a bit burnt out by this White Whale business.

His head falling off was some kind of crazy lovecraft shit. I wouldn't mind the whole show just ending it right there.

The whole meta plot at that point was how the MC Was going borderline insane from everyone he cared about having bad shit done to them Dying painfully and brutally in multiple timelines often from decisions he makes to try to help things out. He mentally just breaks, and does nothing. Like, just stands around and looks like he is dying. This results in significantly MORE amount of pain and suffering for a person he cares about. The scene we are talking about is episode 15 at around 21:00. The best part is seeing the MC wail in despair about the suffering a particular person has given the people he cares about. Then The Mc is killed again, But the Wonderful Music reflecting the despair of the situation climaxes as the head rolls off the body of the MC from a "unknown, and near god like being"( my thoughts) , and credits roll over the now almost still scene as it fills up and whites out with Snow

Correct the MC death does not matter, but what brings tension to the show is not death of the mc, but the MC's mental state. Which is something I am really enjoying and have not seen before in anime.

It honestly was a very well directed episode with well-placed music and drama.

That being said... I don't know if the drama is lasting. The whole point of return by death is that it backtracks and erases any character interactions or consequences for Subaru. Maybe Rem becoming a vegetable will make me feel differently.
