What I like about this anime the most is the flawed MC. It makes Subaru more relatable to how an ordinary person with a special personality would work in this kinds of situation. Glad's he's not a prince-charming perfect Chad and can still develop as a character, even if he cringingly screws up a few times.

I marathoned this up to ep18 (latest currently available episode when I marathoned it) and this show is only average. Not the hyper hyped masterpiece everybody talks about, but not a piece of shit either, just ok. Still dropped it right there because it delivered absolutely fucking nothing.

I've seen this happen many times now: japs overhype a show for x or y reason, and americans follow after them because that's what weebs do.

Pretty sure his Return by Death is meant solely to help him, but, being the cliché hero he thinks he is, he decides to help people that he shouldn't have too much of a reason to care about. He gets reset to a point that allows him to change his situation so as to NOT die next time, all so Satella can suck his dick or something in the future. I feel as though this show would be 20x better if he stayed cynical and jaded and eventually joined up with the witch's cult.

It's a given in stories that the protagonist wins what makes it interesting is how he does it.
The first two arcs actually go down as you expect, he fails but gets better and resets fix everything job well done.

The point of the third arc is to show resets don't magically fix everything, the first two episodes showing not being reset and would serve as a reality check even if it were reset. The gore after was to show the effect on the protagonist who also thinks resets make the deaths that happen meaningless, he tries to ignore the bodies but he can't because even if he can die and fix it this will all keep happening unless he does something so he gives up because fighting an whoever did it is clearly beyond him.

Then we have the episode you dropped it on, most people agree it was sad and it's obviously not because Rem died because she has died twice in the series now but when you realize Rem didn't die and she was still crawling to him to break his chains cementing how powerless he was.
