Hell, in the preview for the next ep, Shun even says all the strategies Ruri's using are legitimately her own and Yugo finds no issue with her dueling style in 117 aside the inclusion of fusion.

The more and more I think about it, I feel it was just dumb luck they were able to pull of something like that. Yoshida mostly sucks at writing. They had their best YGO anime scriptwriter leave after 26 episodes. Ono has proven he's a hack in directing. There's no real consistency to any of the 5Ds staff. It was just a once in a blue moon kind of thing that happened. Or maybe I should credit Kaz with laying the foundation for the first 64 episodes so the staff had at least a general direction to take the story in.

I had watched DM and some of GX dubbed when I was younger, but it was when 5D's was airing that I got into the sub, and watched GX season 4 as well. I think the actual reason was I was watching the dub and got to the end of the dubbed episodes (which was crow vs. bommer) and wanted more so I watched the jap versions.

Watched the entirety of ZEXAL subbed, start with actual number hunting was pretty good, end of season 1 was trash, Hope Ray spam was 2strong, then season 2 with the barians was actually really good.

Arc-V felt like a breath of fresh air though, and from episode 7 onwards I was hype as fuck, which then shifted into overdrive when Reiji pulled off all 4 summoning methods. Obviously synchro was a bit of a downer, and heartland was rushed as fuck, but now we're to the climax with 20+ episodes to go, and we still have a final OP/ED change, so hopefully even more than that. I'm actually excited to see how it pans out.
