It's really funny though, because his mom and dad get more focus and emotional development than Seigi or his osanananjimi.

Exactly. As a manga reader this was a somewhat enjoyable read. The anime on the other hand was doing well until episode 4 when they decided to increase the pacing to 4x when it was 1.5x before. There's so much content and they're trying to do around 30 monthly chapters in 12 episodes.
