Can anyone explain why the FUCK the writers make highschool girls act like 40yo office workers when there's a "serious" stuff going on?
It's just really hard to take them seriously.

>take them seriously
Why would you want to do that?

Fair enough, it's just that the shift from fun to serious atmosphere is really jarring in this show. In one scene you see them doing stupid shit, and then in the next one they suddenly start to act overly dramatic with cheesy piano piece playing in the background.

School idols are serious business.

That's just the third years being drama queens, they'll probably get better right before the second years turn into drama queens for the season finale.
Honestly though, dunno if it's intentional or just my own fun-oriented bias, but I feel the mood they set ends up being comically overdramatic most of the time.

Some of it has to do with the way Japan treats its schoolchildren. A lot more independent initiative and mutual self-control is expected from them than in America. At times they really are expected to behave like that.

It's kind of a big deal for them. They should be acting serious about it.
The average american isn't going to understand that level of dedication because they don't have a common equivalent to it. They don't normally put emphasis on something like a student council.

>America
I'm slav, you guys shouldn't assume everyone here is from one single country.
And I actually didn't mean only student council affairs, you can see them being overly dramatic and serious outside of it.

>i come from a 3rd world shithole that treats kids like crap so everyone should
yeah, stick to squatting
>>145498748
>that treats kids like crap
While it's true, being a drama queen over dumb shit isn't really a good thing either.

Did you actually attend school in Japan or are you one of those people who gain their knowledge about Japan and its culture from cartoons?

>Did you actually attend school in Japan or are you one of those people who gain their knowledge about Japan and its culture from cartoons?
he clearly gained his knowledge from cartoons, because in my experience japanese school kids are no different from amarican school kids, except for there being a much larger percentage of them being tightly wound and stressed out by their parents expectations. If you've met a typical asian kid in a US school, tightly wound to get As by his/her parents you've met a solid 50% of the kids in a japanese school
And no, none of them talk like 40yo office ladies, and no, I wouldn't trust high school kids in japan any further than i'd trust their american counterparts.
