I count about 5-6 are NG focused. Then there's a few episodes dedicated to the rest of the ensemble cast as well as 4 episodes on the non-Cinderella Project Idols.

I don't mind it since the show needs a small group to be the audience surrogate and perspective otherwise the show would be swamped with too many idols with their own individual stories.

Although at least a few anons think the anime should be less NG-focused for some reason.

I've watched both and I can say that they more or less follow the same story. If Idol Anime is a genre, this is how you write it
1. There's a small group of girls either completely assembled or not at the beginning
2. There's a goal (becoming famous/top idols/winning a contest)
3. Cast consists of slapped on anime archetypes like a shy girl/genki/tomboy/the slut.
4. There may or may not be a rival to overcome who start from a more favourable position.
5. Eventually, the group achieves it's goal and becomes top idol or whatever.
Ichigo/Aoi- Starlight Queen/Number 1 Idol on Aikatsu rankings
µ's- Winning the Love Live/Saving School
765- Becoming popular top idols

Basically consider it an underdog story of a group that starts at the bottom and makes their way to the top. Pretty much every Idol Anime I've seen fits it to the tee including WUG (they win a contest to be recognised as the number 1 idol in the second movie) and Perfect Blue (all that suffering seem to have been worth it as in the end she did get an acting career).

The problem with LL is that everyone has same voice range. 765 have great variations, 346 have even more. That makes their songs have very good mix-and-match, although lots of them are quite a miss.

The TV series was made many years prior to the show where alternate techniques weren't available for use on anime like cg and rotoscoping. Also, I must be the only im@s lover who dissents, but those scenes don't really look natural at all. The don't look nearly as fluid as they should and are choppy. Sure, Every Frame is A Picture, but it doesn't fit together well. Movie budgets are also amped a ton so of course they would use something like rotoscoping to increase the beauty and fluidity of the animation.
