I did understand it. I don't think the exposition of the themes was very good. Kanti's brother (can't remember) acts as a force without a real motive on the last part and pushes utena to action. But with no motive of his part. If you want to make it represent "growing up" and "adulthood" why then make his sister a submisive part of it? it doesn't make any sense if that is your goal

on mawaru, you needed even more context of those terrorist attacks in the 90's for the themes of guilt make sense, and even then it wasn't that clear
