I'd state the obvious about how Windermere and the anime give a lot of focus to apples, it's a recurring theme.

My theory is that Windermere weren't always meant to die at 30. It's possible that the first Windies were Immortal protectors of the protocolture (Mikumo may be one of the originals). However because her descendants started to fall to the "temptation and sin" of their superior physical strengths and affinity to wind, she could've manipulated the protocolture to restrict their lifespan to 30 years as punishment and a way to keep them in check.

Yes. It's a lot more original than Frontier. Hayate is better MC than Alto, Freyja is just as, if not, more joyful to focus on than Sheryl, songs are at odds with Frontier's, and the new baddies are a lot more interesting than dumb bugs. Only problem is there isn't as much fighting as Frontier but the character moments make up for it. As you can see from the hoards of shippers here, HayaFrey is pretty damn good ship. Probably the best in the series. The love triangle itself however is horribly one sided and pointless.

Mirage in novel's role is better when compare to anime, not only the "spying" spoiler, also like in episode 2 she punching Hayate's sense changed to she just telling them "don't do this again ok?", and help them to Ranga.

Also her pilot skill is better in novel and feels more like a "nice senpai", though combine it with how she secret call them in novel it feels like that's her mask.
