Ningen literally translates to human, but in Japanese ningen/human can mean mortal depending on context. There is absolutely no reason to not use ningen. It's the subbers fault. However, it's an understandable mistake as most people don't take into account that it can change meaning depending on context.

Frieza makes sense as a benchmark in that he was Galactic Hitler and everyone knew about his prodigious power and sheer domination for decades, which was magnitudes greater than anything else ever (except Buu) until the Super Saiyans came along

Cell was a 2 week anomaly, which required years of hard work for the Saiyans to overcome, and no one outside of Earth knew about it

Buu saga was again confined to a few days on Earth and bullshit powerups

Frieza is a sensible measuring stick as anyone as strong as Frieza would be able to dominate the whole universe easily again if it weren't for the incredibly strong abominations that are Goku and Vegeta, and I suppose Gohan, Piccolo and Gotenks

Thats because Super went full retard and didn't make SSG the ultimate top tier form.

Giving them another form as their stand alone was idiotic. Should have just made SSJ2 the new 'base' SSJ and made SSJ3 the SSJ2 form. Give them the explanation of base form essentially being similar to/on par with Ultimate Gohan, hence why Goku could total Frieza in base, due to Whis training and make it so SSG was just a thing that they were attempting to reach on their own through the training and essentially the upper limit on a beings power.

That way you keep within SOME sort of DBZ power level and don't need to have a new form to do anything.

I always saw SSJ2 as the top of what anyone could achieve without stupid sacrifices or buffs through magic. That's why even Fat Buu got slapped about by Vegeta and didn't really win through power but by being weird.

What are you on about? Vegeta didn't achieve SSB before Goku did. He unlocked god ki through Whis's training. They didn't NEED a new form to claim they were now super strong. It was naturally assumed Whis's training was enough since Vegeta laughed off the fact Goku couldn't lift the weight while explaining how to do so.

This was AFTER Goku's god ki absorption from the Beerus stuff so at that point, Vegeta must have had god ki through training alone.

The training he had with Whis was just to get back that power he lost when SSG's time limit ran out. RoF SSB Goku should be roughly the same as BoG SSG Goku.

The only real training he had was the RoSaT with Vegeta pre-tournament. Which affects Goku/Vegeta much less than it did to them during the Cell Saga because of diminished returns.

As far as I understand, it seems both the manga and anime versions of the Champa arc and Future Trunks arc are both canon.
Since they're both based on Toriyama's plot outline, whereas things like the majority of the slice of life and the Purple Jelly Vegeta arc that happened in the anime were Toei's doing since it was not covered in the manga nor did they receive an announcement of Toriyama's involvement like the other two canon arcs.

While the Battle of Gods and Resurrection of F movies (which were directly written by Toriyama) are canon over the Dragon Ball Super retellings which were just Toei's shitty take on them.

Also Toriyama does appear to check the storyboard of each chapter of the manga and feels that the manga "should keep them on track!" referring to Toei's animators. So at the very least the manga isn't any less canon than the anime simply because it's promotional material.

No one claims that. Both the anime and manga are based on Toriyama's outline. That's what's claimed and that's what're correct.

You're the one who claims that Dragonball Super's script writers aren't actual writers and just editors and that Toriyama hasn't written an outline but a line by line script, even though if he had done that Toei would be advertising it everywhere, just like the RoF movie, where Toriyama is advertised as the script writer, even though his script was modified before the final cut of the movie.

SSJ3 is still 4x SSJ2 you will get destroyed fast, there is no way you can outlast it and besides the draining issue doesn't seem to be a problem for bog arc Goku and probably even less for current Goku.

Of course the best form is currently SSB, so if you got that (Vegeta) why the fuck would you go SSJ3, if something is stronger than your regular SSJ just go SSB and stomp it, now maybe Trunks gets it, he seemed to be amazed enough at SSJ3 Goku to give it a try.

I think Dragon Ball Super has made Goku an even more endearing character.

This lovable moron is the strongest mortal in the universe. He has no fear and no sense of pride, if he's defeated by somebody more powerful than him, he's overjoyed that he got to fight somebody so powerful. Goku is fucking perfect.

You compare him to other shounen protagonists and pretty much all of them would be overwhelmed with crippling fear or hopelessness if they were in an impossible fight that they couldn't win, but not Goku.
