then in my personal opinion either watch the original 90s series or the movies first. It honestly doesn't matter which they both have their plusses and minuses and it ultimately up to personal taste. I think the series has a better atmosphere but I can see why others would prefer the movies.

What ever you do don't watch the currently airing series you won't understand anything that's actually happening without the knowledge that either the manga or the anime provides

The 1997 version is probably worth a watch on its own but thats it. Read the manga, I had never read manga before and berserk became the greatest story I ever knew.
