i think the only reason that season 2 was not as good was because Its second half was only pachinko. because they never really did anything outside of that, it felt kinda slow I still liked all the tricks Kaiji was able to pull tho

Came here to say something to the same effect. S1 was great, had a lot of suspense, dragged on a little here and there but overall fantastic. S2 just destroyed all the goodwill S1 had built by dragging on an arc that could clearly have been half a season shorter. Originally I was going to pick up the manga after the anime but after S2 I just didn't feel like it anymore.

I think that's a weak excuse for gambling addiction. He rigged the Bog pretty hardcore, then went on to gamble on some pachinko machines that were totally stock-standard.

I could not get into it after giving the full first season a try but I see the appeal.
