I liked Speed Grapher.

Gonzo was always a mixed bag, but they did produce a lot of good shows on the second half of the 00's. Not well animated for the most part, but they did have good direction and music going for them.

Dragonaut was when they suddenly hit rock bottom and turned into shit, though Strike Witches was good.

NHK is better than the manga, though it isn't near as good as the Novel. It also has a

Seto no Hanayome was an excellent comedy too.

The novel is really overrated. It's really short, the scenes that weren't adaptated weren't that great and the stuff that was toned down for TV wasn't anything you couldn't have imagined based on the context.

Seto no Hanayome was co-produced with AIC and directed by Kishi Seiji, so giving Gonzo praise for it would be a mistake.

Actually, I didn't mean that the scenes that weren't adapted were great or that they should've shown the drugs when it was pretty obvious that Satou was doing them.

It's just that the anime had a lot of shitty extra fluff like the pyramid scheme, so the Novel ends up being more consistent.

And Kishi Seiji is the biggest mastermind behind SnH, but I honestly forgot it was co-produced by AIC.

Strike Witches was pretty good though, and the first season was made exclusively by Gonzo.

I also liked FMP, even though TSR was better.

Gankutsuou is great but it's not the only good show they ever did.

Around last year I watched Bokurano and Speed Grapher which definitely lowered my expectations for anything Gonzo. I had seen Kaleido Star earlier too and while I liked it, the overall production wasn't that great.

Then more recently I watched Basilisk and wondered what happened to them to make them drop the ball so hard.

Gonzo was never a studio of high production values, Basilisk and Gankutsuou were outliers.

They had solid direction though, which is why some of their shows were still good even while looking bad.
