From my experience. Most Gohan fans are young adults who practically grew up with Gohan. Since he was a kid when DBZ was around the early-2000s when most fans were children/pre-teens. Lacking a father in their life, they can completely empathize with Gohan's "issue".

The thing is there is not "issue" as Gohan clearly doesn't give a shit and one of his more famous quotes is "I'm my father's son."

But in all serious, I don't get Gohanfags. Even if he preferred to be a savior over a family man, it's not as if he's in a war. He just has to deal with an occasional alien attack every 4-8 years or so, so there's not much reason he can't continue life as a normal human and there's no reason Goku should take the blame for it.

Gohan was a "pussy" for 2/3rds of the series. He never liked to fight. He only looked "badass" when fighting because he was constantly thrown in situations were he was forced to fight.

He's the only character in the show that fights because it's the heroic thing to do. He doesn't fight to enjoy it(Goku and Vegeta) nor to increase their chances of survival(The rest of the Z Warriors).
