The crazy thing is, Yakitate went from 0-100 over the course of it's serialization. It went from Suwabara bending over backwards in defeat and coincidentally looking like a bento wrap or something, to full on reality warping and Azuma winning the Nobel for ending global warming with his bread.

The artist probably realized how badly he jumped the shark in the middle of the 25 Japan Arc, and rushed the ending without even concluding that arc.
