Luminance to Opacity basically converts the white level to transparency, make the lineart into something like a mask. You can maintain the edge fidelity this way much easier since you're only erasing the white.

works really well for any manga or black and white images, and also when putting an opaque white back again i suggest putting a lime green layer underneath to make any mistakes more obvious than the white or god forbid checkered background

I just use the polygonal lasso tool to go over the shape of the character and then delete all the unwanted background.

It never goes anywhere in terms of romance arcs, aside from the odd story where it's a big part of the character arc (like say Nobuhiro Watsuki's works). In most works like these, there's some romcom moments, a variety of blushing, stuttering, and jealousy, and then a confession near the end. In any sort of epilogue or continuation, they might be married and have kids.

It's all rather perfunctory though, and most of the time it's just there as mild flavoring to the characters. It's silly to expect much out of it beyond what we've gotten so far or anything beyond the average described above.

But I think the point of this chapter, of All Might coming in and commenting on Deku still trying to be like him, is that Deku isn't meant to fight exactly like All Might. He's been trying to emulate him all this time, but he'll probably end up with his own unique fighting style once he's learned exactly how he wants to use his quirk (and that's when he'll be able to start working on his special move).
