Is Mob Psycho 100 going to be loved by anime casuals the same way One Punch Man was?
No, the art in the adaptation is much closer to ONE's style and is highly stylized, not technically impressive like Murata's, and also misses the gimmicks and fighting. They missed the reason why OPM is a good story anyway.
Casuals will also miss the constant fighting and not be fans of the SOL stuff which is pretty important to Mob's character and story.
ANN: Very excited about Mob Psycho 100 coming up—I wanted to ask about how that project came to Bones. Was it influenced by the production of One-Punch Man at Madhouse, or were you interested in the material beforehand?
Minami: It's a completely different project from One-Punch Man, because although it's written by the same author, they're published by different publishers, so they're considered completely separate projects. One-Punch Man has nothing to do with Mob Psycho in terms of production. Basically, Warner Brothers Japan approached Bones saying, “we have this title, can you do it for us?” I met up with the editorial staff, including the editor-in-chief of the publication that runs Mob Psycho. After a few meetings, they were like “okay, this sounds good, so we can go on with the project.” I had never read the manga before I was approached, so then I read it and was like, “yeah, let's do this.”
Bones knows what's up. Most people dont.
There is no way it could be, Mob psycho is way more subdued and deep. Most close minded people will just disregard it cause of the art.
It will be the best of the season and year by the end, but not many people will have seen it.
One Punch Man bored me. Was reading the Murata remake and just dropped it after a while; didn't even bother watching the anime.
Mob is fucking great though.
I don't get how somebody wouldn't enjoy the SOL in this series. When Ritsu and the Student Body president went to apologise to Onigawara but he had found peace in the BI club I almost cried.
>Not considering tsubomi-chan best girl
How pleb can /a/ be for godsake
We discussed this it's
Reigen>>>Mob>Asagiri>>>>>Emi=Tome>Tsubomi>>>>>>Niagra Falls Highschool Girl>Torture>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mezato
>We always hated Mob
But that's wrong faggot.
The whole arc is some pretty heavy shit.
I really ended up feeling bad for the student council president. His mom and brother were so fucking shitty.
Makes me wonder how pic related will be adapted in the anime. That's some very powerful imagery right here.
Never mind that, let's talk about broccoli instead.
We also didn't give a fuck about OPM until they announced the anime. Same trend that happens whenever something gets an adaptation.
Saiki is better
>there are people here who didn't follow the MA arc with /a/
nah, it's definitely because ONE is obsessed with his name
I can't wait for the anime-onlys to react to everything after episode 3.
>One Punch Man was?
Never watched one man punch, but I do like mob psycho a lot, from the 2 episodes that got subbed I can tell it is very well made and funny.
What is not to love?
I like you art. The other pic you did with him and Dimple was nice.
Tank u for subverting the spoiler by pretending it's fake
You learn that 100% thing wasn't anything special at all lmao. It was just a great troll from ONE. Even the anime studio was on it by showing that episode 1 battle scene intro.
Ugh, they're so cute.
>you will never hear reigen call tero a "good boy"
Why does Ritsu hate Reigen so much? Is he jealous?
He (accurately, at first) believes Reigen is scamming his honest, naive brother into doing his dirty work and not giving Mob enough in return. Considering how everyone around him tries to take advantage of Mob and Mob really doesn't stand up for himself and use his psychic gifts, it makes sense Ritsu is angry
At the start of the manga it's very true but Reigen really grows as a character and becomes a moral rock to Mob (which is the whole reason Mob follows him in the first place)
the advertisement to Mob Psycho kinda portrayed it in a light where it would have the same thing that OPM had except with psychics.
not only that, but the popularity in OPM is mostly due to the single gag of the fact that Saitama is literally the strongest being in the world and normies get their dicks hard seeing him fight against powerful villains that literally every other hero jobbed against.
Mob Psycho's own Mob isn't portrayed as an almighty psychic, as later on even he admits that his power is not enough to stop certain enemies. And Mob Psycho also divulges into the more coming-of-age stuff and the struggle of growing up and sticking with your ideals and maintaining your responsibility.
not only that but uninformed normies who didn't even read the manga are hyping it up too much, it's going to send the completely wrong message to other normies who liked OPM and will come to expect similar things towards Mob Psycho.
How much do I have to pay him to let me choke on his dick?
I can't wait until Mob gets older.
It's cute art, who cares, not like they mentioned tumblr anyway.
Does it trigger you?
I did it on purpose
I know some artists who only use Tumblr to advertise their work. It's only a shitty place because of the SJWs and retards.
>Probably not, most casuals would have no way of knowing it was even written by the same dude.
Really? Cause Crunchyroll sure seems to be shilling the FROM THE CREATOR OF ONE PUNCH MAN
Yeah. As a secondary to both OPM and Mob, I never would have been sold on OPM just based on the visuals. Although they are obviously high-budget, there's not much of a creative flair aside from Saitama's meme face or whatever you call it.
Mob on the other hand hooked me in just with the first 30 seconds based on the visuals alone.
I'm also hyped as fuck for the Teru fight
I can't wait for hostility Mob. How many weeks left?
Apparently cute pictures scare the shitposters away; who knew?
No that art style will make casuals run away
Also anime should give impact on initial episodes to grab the audience, but mob is a kind of manga that starts slowly and takes time to build up to full intense(100%) people won't usually wait for that.
what went wrong with the claw boss arc
In my opinion
>high stakes in the beginning were diverted and tension was lost
>lack of cohesive statement about human nature which most of the other arcs have
So are all of you girls or just really gay for Reigen?
i'm really gay for reigen.
To this day, I literally still hear random people scream ONE PUUUUUUUNCH and recite Saitama's training routine in random places - outside, in an unrelated YouTube video, on an unrelated site, etc. And I'm not even murrican.
Mob will never be as popular. Just no.
He does plan things out, only in this arc's case everything probably sounded much better in his head than on paper. There are lots of ideas and character developments he tried to implement, so much so that the execution fell flat.
The Claw boss was just so fucking flat as a character. At least we got Serizawa out of it.
does anyone not like Shou as a good guy, he was so much more interesting when he was bad. I do like how he cringes at his dad tho
all that build up, all that potential character progression, all for nothing.
I'm not saying the series should be edgy and leave mob an orphan but at least give me some sort of consequence or progression of character for mob
tired...but here's a reigen, all you thirsters have inspired me to draw the sweaty man himself.
i still cant get over how fuckin good it is the visual masterpiece of the ED. i fuckin hope so that Bones keep this at 2-cour and animated Reigen arc as finale i swear this will become the masterpiece of 2016 if they do that.
I freaked out so much when I first read this, like holy shit.
we all saw that coming miles away
I know, I just saying I don't like the fact that the supposed death of his family is just used only for raising the tension. It just makes the story feel so artificial. You don't need something so drastic to raise the tension, there are other ways to incite drama. If you include something this drastic, it should at least have a lasting effect on the character
oh yah, I forgot about that. It's probably because that arc is my least favorite. I should reread that arc just to refresh my memory.
I just like my stories to have a purpose when including a scene. In the end Shou's plan failed and what's left is overly dramatic scene with no purpose other than a device to hype up the story.
I actually discovered OPM on /a/ over a year or so before the anime was announced. Used to talk about it with a friend of mine from another college over drinks.
I was also one of the people who was really excited when the anime was announced and complained about the normalfags liking what I like.
Honestly I didn't care for OPM because when I found out about it, the most recent chapter was just meteors slowly entering earth for 10 pages.
I am in fact glad I waited years before getting into it.
Next episode gonna be hype. Miya sato the one who does the paint on glass ending animation is said to do something impressive next weeks episode.
You niggas already know who is the only ghost who could fuck some shit up next week. Cant wait to see him in this type of animation.
It's not on the same level as the other arcs but it's still far from "shit", at least we got some decent and memorable moments from it. The execution was sub-par and had a lot of wasted opportunities.
>Normalfags can't understand muh deep manga
>if they do watch it, they won't understand it
>if they don't, it's because they don't understand it or appreciate it
Yeah, /a/ just understands things better than most people. That's it.
Not that anon but
Serizawa should be the final battle in the arc since he's more interesting and he has a better backstory. Instead of some giant climactic battle, the claw boss gives up and then Reigen punches him in the face. Sincs Shou is currently wasted potential then he can be the one who talks his father out of taking the world while everyone else is turning against him etc.
It's not the best way to make it better, but I'd enjoy it more than the current claw boss arc
It doesnt have cute lolis or edgy death scenes. Or a catchy idea that can hook you from the title alone. Series like this wont get as popluar and thats fine too. Mob is not for everyone.
Not because it's worse quality series, but because OPM is satirizing what is both well known (Shounen anime) and what is currently popular (Superheroes due to the Marvel CU)
OPM is simply a right time right place deal. Mob is a more relate-able series which can be more hit or miss.
I like both but that's just my opinion on their popularity
Why does being a sexy slut suit Reigen so much?
I dislike the artstyle, dislike the characters (especially Mob's fake psychic boss), and hate the overall tone/atmosphere of the show. I've dropped it
Spoil me: what happens when he hits 100?
Literally nothing. He just gets to express his emotion. Reigen is actually a powerful psychic and is the main villain of secret organization of psychics. Mob is gonna talk no jutsu him to stop being bad.
nigga if I've dropped the show I'm sure as fuck not reading the manga with even worse art
>Reigen is actually a powerful psychic and is the main villain of secret organization of psychics
wow now this may actually be watching for
fucking OPM clone even by the same author.
Drop it while you still can.
Nah, it's garbage. The Mob at the episode 1 intro is not 100% but ???% mode and the most powerful thing in their universe but he won't use it against Reigen who is more powerful than 100% Mob. He'll just talk no jutsu him which is your shonen shit.
I'm anime only, doing it on purpose for one hell of a ride. Doon't disappoint me f/a/gs
When will Reigenposters finally commit seppuku?
No, fuck you Satan.
Nah. I really doubt casuals will give it more than an episode or two, Reigan and Mob don't give the best first impression. The janky art, constant silliness, and meh action scenes will probably push away casuals before they get to the meat of the show.
Body Improvement Club anime when
The wait will be long
Why did the new chapter thread get deleted? the fuck
So who do you guys think fake psycho helmet dude is? Manifestation of the Broccoli? Just some other regular esper? Urban legend created by all the believing Mob has been generating since he beat Dimple?
I hope this arc will deal with Mob's irresponsibility of letting all that shit grow around him without caring nor letting it off the hook, it's what it seems to be setting up (and it seems like it'll be a Dimple arc too)
Whatever it is, the story has already involved itself with it so it WILL be addressed as a main thing either in this arc or in the future. Thematically it'll probably all harp back to why Mob couldn't control his power to begin with and how that affected both him and his family
who would in a match between mob and saiki?
No thread for the new chapter?
Manifestation of the broccoli's immense psychic power and peoples' belief in Psycho Helmet as an urban legend
I'm a bit nervous because that's when I expect the "this is just OPM" shitposting to reach maximum.
>that's when I expect the "this is just OPM" shitposting to reach maximum.
I mean, I know how /a/ and anime watchers in general go but hopefully some people will be able to realize that Mob being OP is not played for gags like in OPM and the whole 100% is actually a metaphor for puberty
>People born in 98 are old enough to post on 4chan
Was pretty nice how girl mob got animated so soon.
Why is Ritsu such a shitty brother? Mob deserves better.
Why do you ask? Are you still believing in the meme that studios need to make money from disc sales of shows they're only hired to make an adaption of?
Then check out this fact that will blow your mind:
Santa ain't real.
they can go under because of them and bones is currently in the red right now hence why i asked, they are probably the most likely studio to go under unless they maybe last long enough for mappa and shuka to go under
Sunny, they've been in the "red" for years, and they will continue operating under a minus for another decade. You're free to check out the archives to search for discussion topics that explain how anime studios work.
In fact, I find it very likely that you do know how it works already, since you seem to be the type of kid who goes into studiowar-threads to pose the same dumb question over and over again for shitposting purposes.
There are some reoccurring females but when you have someone as moe as Mob, asking for girls is just being greedy.
See. Why didn't you just come out and admit it right from the get-go that you already know how it really works? After all, it doesn't need a psychic to know who poses that question regularly anyway.
Heh, psychic. I'm so clever.
> On the last page of chapter 96.1, psycho helmet slips up and uses “ore-sama” first person pronouns (even though he’s been using “boku” up to this point)
> (The significance is that Dimple also uses ore-sama)
Can another translator confirm?
The whole section with the mercenaries was pretty redundant since we get a demonstration of their power later when they're fighting the scar dudes anyway. Add some minor dialogue trimming here and there, shorten some of the fights and you have a deal.
I don't know what he would do about how 'light' the arc feels thematically though
Yeah. also all the mercenaries besides Serizawa were pretty boring and completely flat. Just seems like none of the characters were developed. It's a shame, the plant guy could have been interesting. Then Shou's friends were kind of just... there.
Just seems like there were too many characters, and nothing to really do with them.
>I don't know what he would do about how 'light' the arc feels thematically though
the fight was about how mob has to compromise on his belief that people can change. having mob continue to believe that reigen is dead, even if the audience knows otherwise, would keep tension on the philosophical battle.
in terms of the transition to animation, I don't think it's too long. action sequences condense many more pages into screen time than dialogue.
>the fight was about how mob has to compromise on his belief that people can change
End of the day he won though. The arc is just a bigger-scale version of the same concepts that have been all over the manga since Dimple.
I think neither Boss nor Shou were fleshed out enough to make something more with it. That's because ONE was trying to cram a lot of plans and fights and factions into a single event and couldn't stop to go deeper rather than wider
If it IS Dimple, then he probably wants to pretend he isn't him. After all, he could just do everything with the red dimples on his cheek but this guy doesn't seem to be possessed.
