Well now, that covers a fair number of different disciplines, so you'd have to examine each of them.

As it stands, some years ago, a variety of medical engineers working on a wide array of prosthetics and artificial body part replacements came together, threw their different projects together, and saw how much of a person they could build on their own. Not to mention the struggle against ethics committees, apocalyptic doomsayers, and so forth.

Altogether I've seen some futurists express a belief in a booming robot sex industry within the next couple of decades. Not an unrealistic approximation, based upon the currently available technology, and the course of development it seems to be on. Thus, waifu-bots shouldn't be too far behind, theoretically.

tl;dr: 2050s at the latest hopefully.

I used to collect Transformers, but imo they've just been steadily declining in quality since like, 2008. There's been a mild upswing recently, but the current "Titanmaster" gimmick leads to a lot of inefficient waste in designs.

So then you've got Third Party and Masterpiece, which're much higher end in general...with the price tag to match.
Honestly I'd like to get more of them, but I'm already so deep in the hole of plastic butts and upper-tier imported action figures, I can't stretch my wallet any thinner as it stands.

The costs of decent 3d printers that are used are still immense and only feasible if you are extremely wealthy or a big company like gsc. In the end you are essentially only printing one figure for yourself, including the costs of the printer and the time it takes to get a working 3d sculpt, you might as well give clay sculpting a go. It was pretty disappointing, to be honest. I thought it was gonna be a neat Japan's take on a buddy cop movie, but it pretty quickly devolved into standard anime. I also prefer Angela's adult design that looked fairly unique instead of just Standard Sci-fi Loli #3256. Looks like a nepnep. Also, I hated the ending. It's like the director thought "well, every good movie has a bittersweet ending, so if we do that, it makes a good movie, right?" Why couldn't they release the people frozen in prison and bring them on the ship? The whole movie was building up to that and then they don't even mention it as a possibility when the time comes.

The colors work well enough and the dress design is great. The only thing about the figure that could be considered bad is the base is just a little bit much but its far from terrible. It will probably be my favorite figure as long as the production quality holds up.

Some aren't too bad and for plenty of characters, prizes are the only option. The biggest problems prizes suffer from are poor paint aps and small scale. My Frolaytia looks great, but the mouth is a bit off and there are a few times where the paint went outside the line, so to speak. Worth the 20 bucks easily, but I'd be sick to my stomach if I spent 100 bucks on it.

Check MFC for actual pictues instead of just using the promo ones. That applies to prize figures a million times more than regular statues. Very often, prize figure promo pics will be done before the figure itself is. Using Frolaytia again, her hair has a slight metallic sheen (making it look a bit like ice. It's really lovely) that isn't shown in promos. And the face looks much better in person.
