I watched the episode only a couple weeks ago in preparation for the countdown, but then realized the content of the joke. So, I still have like 7 years to go before I can catch up with all the people who pretended to laugh 7 years after not watching the episode as it aired.

To be honest, I was half expecting Kumeta to actually do something - though, assuming the same scene also happened in the manga, and thus it took place before the anime, the countdown should have taken that as its starting point.

Though the manga's epilogue is more than enough, some more insight into Sensei and the girls' lives in that island would be nice.

The manga had its weird-ass end seven years after the chapter in the manga containing the 7 year laugh was published iirc. That was the original joke; the anime thing was a meme perpetuated by basically just us as an excuse to keep making SZS threads. Somehow people started taking it seriously and it became a big deal.
