Yeah, It's actually airing right now. It's called Re:Zero.

The Tatami Galaxy isn't even close to the masterpiece known as Re:Zero. How it portrays Subaru as a tragic hero is truly beautiful. The soundtrack is god-tier and the characters are interesting and never fails to make an impression. It is truly the Code Geass of this decade and just blows The Tatami Galaxy out of the water.

Both shows were excellent in every regard you mentioned. Also, similar theming does not make a thing a ripoff. The two shows couldn't be more different in execution.
