While the hijinks are pretty similar (get a bunch of money, trying to get rid of it gives you more) the context and ability is pretty different. Milagro man seems to cause the increase of money and deliberate uses it against you someway, sugar mountain didn't actually give more money past the spring exchanges, it was just their good luck with money was very bad in the context of needing to get rid of it

It honestly reads a lot like Araki's spin offs and one shots, which I'm all for. Its one side of Araki I particularly like and its hard to pin down what makes these bizarre (heh) shorts appealing and so distinct from his usual writing.

Its a pretty good idea to implement one into Jojo as a sort of intermission between major arcs, giving the readers something to cool down with before things pick up again and letting Araki take a break the way he likes best (weird ass short stories) while still playing with the part's characters

It might just be a way to break things up a bit before what I'm sure will be some heavy plot stuff with Kaato, while also giving Joshuu some much time to shine, but the Milagro Man could be relevant to the plot in some way. Maybe it's someone Kaato knows, kaybe he helped to import the Rokakaka, or maybe it's Flashback Man. I know Flashback Man has become a joke at this point but he has to show up eventually, and this could be the time.

if you guys aren't aware of what's going on here, it seems like a silly side story, but it's actually paving the way for a massive plot revelation in about 3 chapters by my estimate

this is a common parable. the main character is generally selfish/greedy/mean, and generally [doesn't feel whole]. they suddenly stumble upon whatever it is that they've always felt will [make them whole] (in this case, Joshuu coming into unexpected cash).

a turn of events causes them to give and give and give away, but they only keep getting more in return. this is usually paired with some sort of realization that what they wanted all along is actually bad (for joshuu, this is twofold. not only is he worried about getting in trouble for the cash, but also he's beginning to feel guilty about his cash because he's not working for it like norisuke told him too)

the likely resolution for this story will involve joshuu standing atop a tall building and throwing all the cash out into the air, which will cause Milagro Man to materialize. Milagro Man, in this case, is sort of like the Golden Heart of Morioh, a benevolent spirit known and felt by everyone. my guess is that it's related to when Jesus' Corpse was under the tree at the Higashikata Mansion.

anyways typically the moral of these stories is that the object (joshuu's money) was a metaphor all along, because the only thing you can truly give away and receive more of in return is love for your fellow man

When does this arc take place relative to the Damo fight? I know it said two weeks before Kaato comes to the Higashikata house, but it makes me wonder if Kaato returned immediately after the Damo arc or not. If things do turn out this way, then either Kaato is returning to the Higashikata house at least 3 weeks after the Damo fight, or this Milagro Man story takes place before the Damo fight, but if that's the case then this >>144398119 can't be right because Joshuu was still being a prick when Damo visited.

If you're talking about the "Jou" vs "Jo," it's written "Jou" in Japanese. Not like we're adding in anything, and it contributes to the correct pronunciation of the name for anyone that cares about that kind of thing

I brought that up as well. But whenever her name is spoken in the chapter, it's written in kanji, so her name's definitely Japanese, so there can't be a C. I still think it's intended to be stylized as Caato, but there's no official spelling or promotional material to justify that spelling completely, so we've decided that until either of those appears, we'll stick with a Japanese spelling of the name

Japanese has 3 different romanization systems, on top of stylistic choices which Araki rarely ever fully commits to. We strictly use the Hepburn system like most western readers do and always transliterate everything (thus we leave in the extra "u" sounds), but from Araki's or his assistants' point of view, any of them is fair game.
It makes romanizing some of the weirder Japanese things real tough.
