GT's fighting choreography was pretty bad most of the time.

4) Makes sure that the training for the Fusion Dance is passed along, and continues to stress that everyone should be up to par because he can't always be around, and even he has his limits
5) Helps Gohan with his training
6) When Gohan has to job to Buu to continue the story, he immediately appears to fight
7) When Vegeta reappears, he point blank refuses to fuse with Goku. Goku repeatedly talks about how they absolutely cannot win, even fighting together. Back in the Cell Saga, Vegeta had told off Trunks for suggesting that they all jump Cell
8) Saves Mr. Satan and Dende instead of leaving them to die

But Goku is the Idiot Warrior Who Likes to Fight, so let's turn those up to 10 and go with it.

So it'd make sense that, for instance, Super Saiyan God, would embody that fact. Instead it's just a kaioken form or a blue-filtered super saiyan.

Again, SSJ4 was far from great, but it's still better to me than SSJG. That said, almost anything is better than that, so I guess it's not a huge feat.

That said, if they had reused SSJ4 for SSJG, it would have had to have been golden instead of this random red with black.

True, if you're talking about characters actually fighting.

Either way, at least DBS gives secondary characters some chance to fight such as the Freeza Force (well done in the movie at least), Piccolo (who was absent in GT) vs Frost, some filler fights...so far.

Also Vegeta will be training Trunks, and Piccolo is training Gohan. Trunks fighting is a given, so we may jump from 2 competent fighters to 3 or 4. In contrast, GT only had one.

The general point was more that it was a new form but otherwise was just really a red-haired Goku with red eyes and a different aura. And then of course the thinner frame.

Likewise. I guess it's really just my disappointment over the fact that god forms and all that come down to nothing but palette swaps, when they give people the expectation that they're so much more.

Again, though, it's not like I love SSJ4.. Aside from the aesthetics, it was pretty shit to me, and even when it came to aesthetics, it could've been way better. Magic aging, magic pants - great examples of shitty parts about it.

It's better than SSG to me by sheer virtue of being actually a different design, If there's any other thing I like about it, it's that it embodies the ape motif that saiyans have, something you would at least expect from, you know - a saiyan GOD.

The thing with SSJ4 was that it was hard to design past SSJ3. What could you grow after the hair had already grown to Raditz proportions using SSJ3?

I don't see why there is a need to throw the Baby Tuffle out with the bathwater.

SSJ4 didn't quite hit the mark, but it has some stylistic choices that I think wouldn't work that bad being reused. Sadly, SSJG has been established, and so has the form past it, so I don't see it ever happening, but I do think that stealing some design cues from it would have been pretty nice.

So it still peeks through the cracks every now and then but I really like every single (rare) moment where we see something actually resembling martial arts, even fictional ones.

Like every now and then in a fight person A actually manages to outmaneuver person B rather than simply overpower them or outspeed them, and I fucking live for that. Late DBZ started to lose that a bit in exchange for beam shenanigans and "they're moving so fast even we cant see them" but super ALMOST seems to be trying to fit them in every now and then, like there were a couple of hits in the goku v goku fight where it looked like Goku was a legitimately better martial artist than Goku B. It's rare as shit, and not fully redeeming, but I like that there's at least an effort.

SSJ forms doesnt change your physical form except the hair and eyes.

They could've easily incorporated that SSG as mastered Kaioken instead as it would make sense. A form that normally makes you more bulky, high risk, and a fiery ki. But once mastered, it makes you more slim, almost no risk, and a calmer ki.

It would also make more sense since Kaioken literally means "God's Fist"

Could very easily be them doing something awful in the future. Currently aside from time traveling (which can apparently lead to planets being erased in some cases) they aren't nearly as threatening or dangerous to the universe as other species.

Yeah, but since Black wasn't aware of the time machine I doubt that is his reason. Maybe something bad happens because of the human race in the future and he wants to prevent that by killing all humans.

It's likely that there's a noble cause fueling his motives that he's just executing violently, since he specifically singles out humans and people who help humans.

When he destroyed the time machine and trapped Future Trunks in the past he didn't seem to care that Trunks was still alive, just that he no longer had to deal with him. This could very well be just him wanting to destroy the humans the future timeline/reality.
