Yeah, I liked the conspiracy build up in SS, but what I really was wanting was the hollow final boss. Ever since the first menos showed up in the story I was waiting to see more truly horrific monsters, they were genuinely creepy. Then when Aizen escapes SS and one of the characters makes the comment about "something else" with the minor menos hollows I was expecting shit to get real in the hollow arc, some kind of Lovecraftian evil stuff.

The problem is that there were WAY too many fights where people revealed new abilities but the new ability only mattered for that fight. The amount of one-trick pony moments in this arc is absurd. Remember Rukia's Bankai? Isn't it sad that she basically just used it once, and it will never matter again? Isn't it fucked up that Hitsugaya's mature form was used for one fight that he and two other people who ALSO revealed new abilities were unable to even win?

Actually, Shonen Jump has been forever kind to Kubo. Kids (the Shonen of Shonen Jump and who do a lot of the polling) HATE Bleach. Bleach is mostly bought by fujoshi who like the crack pairings. Bleach also gets zero dojinshi anymore, it's grossly unpopular with the public nowadays but Shonen Jump has been kind to Kubo to let him finish on his own terms for a while until I guess recently where they set an ultimatum. It's the audience that's been not kind to Kubo. Not Shonen Jump.

Personally (so yes this is an opinion) I feel it strayed off too far from the feel of the previous arcs.

Ghost Mexico was the height of the series to many people and Fake Karakura Town set a really heavy endgame tone. They could have ended it after Ichigo vs Aizen and it would have felt natural. Fullbring felt like an asspull in and of itself, though in retrospect it was pretty fucking fun.

I still think Aizen will get gibbed some how (ywach has yamas bankai, maybe it can still hurt Aizen), trade his soul gem to Ichigo (I think the gems were made from the missing two legs of the SK), Ginjo will stab Ichigo (for hollow powers) and Uryuu will fire the arrow into Ichigo (for quincy). He will have a five minute talk with himself and go FGT again.

His sword even broken did NOT revert to shikai, even though he just had two powers that compose his soul (sword/power) stolen. So Ichigo is bullshitting (or kubo is lying to us through narration) about having both stolen, visible evidence points to his powers not being completely stolen.

Fullbring was okay. There were many, many questions still hanging from FKT. The arc did a slow regain of power, but had way too much in the way of conceptual powers (and why this arc got so bad). I think it had the right number of characters for what it was trying to do, show all ages, all walks of life and how some of them dealt with getting magic. Just the final fights involving shinigami was unnecessary, end the arc with Ichigo finding out they have ulterior motives, involve his father a bit and find a way to repower him without the 1v1s for fan favorite captains.

Resolution could have been shaking a finger at fullbrings with a 'don't abuse your power, we'll send someone to end you'. There was no need to make their powers conceptual, but still get curb stomped in 1v1s.

I enjoyed the 'fucking with Ichigo' aspects a lot.
