fujo shit never bothered me, mainly because fujos stick to their own threads, and don't get mad if you say that their favorite characters are straight in a non-fujo thread. When they do appear outside their own threads it's usually only a couple posts.

Yurifags will attack anyone who implies that a female character isn't gay, they'll shit up threads with hundreds of images and shitposts, and they start crying if their female character shows interest in a guy.

If we are talking about fujobait anime/manga, those with cool guys doing cool things (think sports manga) they have no problems with the female character(s).

Probably because:

1) It was the first Gundam that was seen on mainstream TV in North America and, in the opinion of /m/, was not as good as the other shows and wasn't a good representation of the franchise.

2) Yes, the slash fans were irritating. They denied that one of the two guys in the most popular pairing was most likely going to hook up with a girl eventually, as was implied in the series ending. These people came back out of the shadows when he confessed love to her at the end of the Frozen Teardrops series from not long ago. In the old days, the fandom was pretty much a war between "yaoi" and "non-yaoi" fans with very few people who were neutral or who liked both.

3) There were fans back in the day who never watched any other Gundam but proclaimed it "the god of all Gundam". Some of them never did watch anything else.

The hatred for the main female character was/is super widespread, and people these days still do it because hivemind. They don't realize that the widespread hate started with the "yaoi vs. non-yaoi" wars.
