Don't talk to me or my sword ever again.
Eren in new Berserk anime?
Studio Millepensee and GEMBA confirmed for bros
why, DO YOU BLEED?
>1997 had lots of still shots
>in new series even still shots looks fucking horrible
>go to 01:10
>dat shaky camera
I have no words for this
Dem crazy korean animators, gotta love them
Backgrounds looks so good
Even traditional animation parts looks like shit
Help me to wake up from this
The animated bits were, the CG had choppy framerate and they had to slow it down during certain scenes as to try to cover up that fact. That's why it sold like shit in Japan, nobody liked it. So instead of doing what people asked, they decided to throw away the decent drawn bits and just use CG for most of it, which was the biggest problem the audience had with the adaptation. This will sell poorly as well, especially with all the stuff they changed just in episode 1.
They're not, the director of 4ºC had said he intended to do a Lost Children movie if given the chance after the Golden Age movies.
They changed to LIDENFILMS and Millepensee instead of 4C again so unfortunately for him (and a lot of us), we're not getting Lost Children anymore.
Then we had this, where people started saying it would be getting a new movie series, despite it never being stated. It turned out to be a regular TV series, not even from the same studio that did Golden Age.
So no, we're not getting more movies, this is all we're getting.
How did they fuck up the dragonslayer.
Couldn't they use like the sound that was used when guts punched they guy at the bar? They used that in one of the trailers for the dragonslayer, and it fits too. It's what a fucking lump of iron would sound like
It's satisfying too
>Put a modicum of effort into the movies
>could have been way better
>get poor sales
>"Well I know how to fix this problem, how about we cheap the fuck out with a new series so we still make money even though we get poor sales!"
>new series is probably going to be DOA and sell very little, especially after a first episode as genuinely terrible as this
Stupid fucking nip bean counters
Add a bit of bloom and you could have told me it was an Oblivion screen shot.
Holy shit you are a genius of comedy.
Metal skeleton inside the girl and when the sword cuts through her it makes the CLANG! sound effect never really thought about it that way.
Makes me carck up. Just imagine it guys.
So we have a story bastard first episode that skips a lot of shit, and hints at a lost children ark, that will never be.
On top of that we have this amazing CGI and animation, with somewhat out of place VAs.
Is it just time to kill myself before i see bersekr going to full shit?
>ctrl + c
>Gotta make a forest
>ctrl + v intensifies
I would argue that oblivion had more diverse forests than berserk. And they tried to cover the ground surface at least.
this horse looks like if it was gagged.
Here I was thinking if I should get into this Berserk bullshit train.
Glad I walked though here.
>1997 had lots of still shots
Because of budget constraints but they were so well drawn and overall it added to the atmosphere of the show.
The Berserk 97 adaption is the Nier of anime.
Aside from the amazing soundtrack the old anime is mostly garbage. Most of the episodes look like absolute shit in motion. I love Berserk to death, and the first anime is my first exposure to the series, but you motherfuckers are talking out of your asses when you say the old anime is worth watching. I say just download the ost and read the manga.
>PS2 game has better forests
You can't make this up.
Come with me if you want to live!
>*guts hitting metal skeletons*
Just finished watching it.
Holy shit that was bad.
That was really bad.
Where the hell did that forest monster come in??? I don't remember that from the manga. Unless I actually don't remember and my memory is just foggy as hell.
It appears...but not yet
>meet the wolverine
>grade AAA skeleton material
It was a good day.
Looks like Guts got raped worst than that one time with Donovan.
>Schierke and Holy Iron Chain Knights right at the start
>Isidro in the fucking pub where Puck is introduced
>Isidro working with a band of shitty brigands
>thugs from the first chapter are part of the group that gets turned into bug-men
Goddammit, /a/. I fully expected shit, but I was at least hoping for a shit adaptation that stuck to the manga. This is FMA:B levels of bullshit intro episode.
The completely still CG characters with everything else moving is killing me.
I am very disappointed with myself, i tried not to look forward to this because i felt it would be shit and lo an behold shit it was, now if u excuse me im gonna play some vidya and pretend this didnt happen (again)
The sheer laziness this was made with is what really gets to me.
The studio knows that she was drawn darker than most characters and medieval Europe had SOME darker people too like Mediterraneans, Kushans (I think), even Moors (though that wasn't til a little later and they were invaders)
I'm not trying sound like some tumblr cunt but I'm trying figure out, why did they make the color change?
If Guts gets captured right after being stabbed by Colette instead of fighting an Apostle, does that mean that Colette is as strong as an Apostle?
By Pucks logic, yes.
>The actual OP casually splices in an image of Femto raping Casca to the sound of the energized intro music
What Were They Thinking?
She's not strong, he just hesitated to show that he's not a complete edgelord like he makes himself out to be.
I don't get why people hated the CG in the movie, it wasn't bad at all but I guess since they're not used to it it's easy to nitpick.
How did they fuck this up so bad? The voices have no life to them, the sounds are god awful, the look is just wrong, animation is bad, music detracts from the scenes, this is one of the worst first episodes I have seen..
>Already outshines Berserk 1997
The lies and crockery is this?
>Most of the episodes look like absolute shit in motion
They had their fair share of QUALITY, but look at this, man.
Why is Berserk such shit?
Why does every video game of it look like total buffalo diarrhea?
Why does every anime the original have to shove this 3D CGI garbage in everything?
This anime is so disorienting.
FUCK I'm so mad, why can't they just adapt the manga with a proper anime that mimics the style proper? Pucks face was so emotionless. just O_O the whole time.
Miura shall be televizing his ritual suicide shortly
It was very bad, anon. Even setting that aside, the movies were shit for removing pretty important scenes like Guts' corny "bonfire of dreams" talk to add in an extended ballroom scene with random cameos from Farnese and pals.
The movies were bad, but they did Griffith fucking the princess and fucking Casca right
Maybe this anime will do this scene right
He's talking about what happens in the next ep. Guts is supposed to be incredibly battered and exhausted after his fight with Rosine, which is the only reason he got captured. Even then, he was tearing through those inexperienced Iron Chains chumps.
Why are all the scenes with Griffith the best produced? Are they trying to tell us something?
The little soldier guys were pretty bad but they wouldn't be any better at all if they were 2D and even they didn't look too bad in the 100 man fight, they were all moving around and weren't just sitting still.
>movies were shit for removing pretty important scenes like Guts' corny "bonfire of dreams"
It's not shit for removing it but I was sad they didn't include it, it would've made the eclipse just a bit more sad.
Looks like it... http://www.skullknight.net/forum/index.php?topic=12735.2850
But I don't think a marketing team has to spend all the time in the world reading up online to see that Berserk still has a strong audience along with the things it has influence.
It's still easy to see why people invested money in this despite the movie.
And it's going to happen again, and again, and again till Besrek is forgotten among most...
What if Griffiths true dream is to become a little girl and he used the castle shit and a cover up?
Gremlin-esque Puck was kind of cute in the Manga, and could be kind of cute in an actual 2D anime. Bug god damn does he look like a fucking abortion in the anime. I really don't want to go back, watch the episode, and rip a webm of that part; because giving that even a cursory second watch is a fucking task I cannot bring myself to do.
But if anyone else wants to do a webm of that part that's fine by me.
I can already imagine loli Griffith singing a [email protected] song
>I am a Falconia mercenary that dreams of a castle, and my favorite food to eat is a Hamburger... OH my beloved Guts, WHERE ARE YOU?
How could you fail to pitch it?
We want to make an anime adaptation of a popular manga that will basically sell itself, and has a big enough overseas following to almost for sure get sub companies wanting to jump our bones for the rights to it.
Why the fuck is he here? Talk about a clusterfuck of an episode.
It'd probably be more expensive actually, Under the Dog's stretch goal for 1.74 million would have put it up to 3 episodes when the average budget for a 1 cour TV anime is 2 million.
I am a traveler from 25 years into the future, Berserk is currently in chapter 398 and it's showing no signs of finishing soon, Guts is fighting a pretty boy apostle and Rickret was killed by Moonknight, that's all.
I really would have preferred 'muh pain is greater than yours' animation to what I watched today.
Rum shouldn't be a thing in there since its made of sugar and sugar comes from sugar cane which is a tropical plant.
Even if you take into account imports from ganishka land, why would a shitty tavern have it?
can't wait for three episodes in for the trolls to give up on these threads. The episode actually did a good intro for guts as the black swordsman. The voice acting and writing was good, and the scenes with puck were actually funny. There were some bad shots and stupid shaky camera bits, but they preserved the good storytelling from the manga which is what matters for any pre-Bluray release.
All that being said, 0/10 adaptation for white casca
>hear berserk hyped up for years, never get a chance to watch/read
>go to watch the episode
>it's that cgi bullshit
Just watched the first episode.
The animation and art style is so bad that I can't actually enjoy anything else about it.
Why are they shitting on Isidiro being there when the only reason he's following Guts is to become a strong swordsman? Him being with the mercs fits with his character
Also the bit about rum is autistic as fuck, especially since the country it's set in borders the Indians.
>Why are they shitting on Isidiro being there when the only reason he's following Guts is to become a strong swordsman?
Because it's stupid, by all accounts the forest of skeletons and trees that eat people should kill him when he gets lost in the woods.
Is there any real reason for them to use this art style anyways? Like has the studio said anything?
They make a valid point, it just shocked me that those are the things that bothered them given tht they said they just watch the episode and did the podcast with a "fresh impression". They should still be in a daze like we were over the visuals, the music and sound direction and the direction in general.
But I guess them being Berserk fans first and us being anime people first makes a difference.
I think their point was more that Isidro was following these utter chumps when he has been shown to be of much higher intelligence and skilled at deceiving thugs like them was ridiculous.
Berserk doesn't deserve this.
>tfw they leave you out of this train wreck
Glad they won't CGFUCK my girlfriend
You know it's bad when Guts' horse looks more like Casca than Casca.
he's not actually fucking dead is he?
i know his last video was more than 5 years ago, but come on, he can't be dead, right?
unless i see an obituary, i'll just assume he stopped making anime reviews because he saw where anime was headed in the 2010's
>guts hits the tree demon one time with his sword
>then guts and the tree both completely freeze
>wind.gif appears and covers the screen
>shaky camera so hard you can't see anything
>have "hardcore" music playing during this to hide the fact that nothing is actually happening
I was mad enough at this when I first saw it so honestly pretty good first episode.
I always thought /a/ was way too hard on them. They skipped some stuff unnecessarily, but they didn't look bad most of the time save for extras in the background, and the CG allowed for some really great or improved fight scenes.
it's funny that after people complained about Farnese's hair they fixed it
Well I thought it was going to be an excuse for how Guts got hurt so bad to be captured by the knights, but that's fucking wrong because even when facing them he doesn't look injured at all.
You know whats weird about this is that even probably ten years ago this would be considered terrible quality.
I think that whoever has the rights figures this shit will sell no matter what so they scraped together the cheapest cast possible and paid for the worst quality they could mixing in cgi as an excuse for 'updating' the series.
If you look between this and Ushio and Tora at least Ushio and Tora was consistent for a longform shounen revivial. With this, its almost like they are intentionally making it horrible.
Since they skipped Lost Children, there's no reason for Guts to even get captured. He was fucked up from his fight with Rosine, still wrekd the knights, and only fell after Serpico attacked the arrow wound he got from Jill's dad.
Am I the only one who finds the anime better in black and white?
It really improves the animation and makes it closer to the manga's style.
that doesn't look better at all
Maybe I need to go back and rewatch. I just remember some of the larger battles having soldiers look very stiff, nothing as bad as this but enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth.
At least the movie had reverence for some key scenes I feel like this is going to shit on everything, I might legitimately gag when I see Casca.
>I just remember some of the larger battles having soldiers look very stiff,
The background soldiers looking full CG, especially the faces, was definitely a big minus. But I still think that this was made up for with the improved fight choreography.
It is a lot closer to the "tone" of the manga and the anime, and the tone i associate with Berserk in general. But "better"... hard to say. The new anime just looks like it was produced by a team who's not exactly "detail oriented"
>realizing this is the future of anime
I was just looking up some of the fights. And I am thinking to myself, "Hey this isnt all that bad."
When I first saw this I was furious, I watched these movies gritting my teeth. Is this a test Miura?
>Berserk will never be this based again
I can at least take solace in the fact that one of the best girls in the whole manga spent her entire arc butt naked flashing her tight little moth pussy, her perky loli nipples and that hot little round ass. Hot damn I am really in the mood for moth tonight, time to reread Layers of White.
It's not just her nipples bro, the only thing they didn't show was her asshole, and I bet hers is cute and poundable as hell.
Why are people blaming Miura? If someone came to you and gave you a bunch of money and wanted to adapt your works, bringing in new fans for your project, you'd accept it as well.
Yeah, the 1997 had flaws but it was still respectful overall.
This? This was just bad.
Seeing Isidro in the pub was when I told myself "yeah, it's pretty much what I expected."
I've never had too much of a problem with CG so I really enjoyed it, I mean look at how fucking amazing this looks yet people still have the gall to say the movies look like shit.
I mean I can deal with it. Its something about CGI bodies that I cant stand, movement looks so weird. I can atleast respect the movies but I don't think I will ever really accept CGI
Jesus, it looks so lifeless and dull. The only time the CGI felt like it fit was when zombie Collete was walking around and that's because she's a zombie so it would make sense for her movements to be odd and inhuman
Honestly I would find it bearable if it wasn't for the music. The animation is bad, but it's still Berserk. But the metal soundtrack just ruins it, makes the whole thing seem Tryhard Xtreeeem.
Well, yeah, but it's not Miura's fault, he probably just supervised a few things, I don't think his involvement was so big.
And even if he was the director and called all the shots, he's a manga guy, not a anime guy, so it would probably turn out weird.
Youre going to have to forgive me because I am not up to date on my meme shows but did people really hate Aku no Hanas CG? There was a show that I actually enjoyed a unique art style. I saw someone compare it to this and I think that is unfounded.
You know when your teacher tell you to put more effort in your work and you often will have a lesser grade because it shows and you just trying to get it done quick rather than well?
I wonder if these people think they are proving thier teachers wrong and laughing all the way to the bank.
Lots of people hated it when it was released
Ohh I see. That's actually really cool.
>Loved Aku no Hana's OST and artstyle
>Hated everything else
I just liked the rotoscoping. I didn't even mind the "characters walking home in silence for half an episode" thing.
The majority of Berserk fans liked all three movies.
Aku no Hana was well received also.
It's, as always, just the manga spergs who pretend adaptions are awful when they're not.
The voice acting, animation, and entire art direction was bad though. It really was that bad.
I meant to say sound direction.
This is going to be confusing as hell for anime onlys
>Where did Guts get Dragon slayer and his metal arm?
>Who's the weird demon fetus?
>Where did Guts get his Behelit?
And this sure as shit isn't for fans of the manga
>The majority of Berserk fans liked all three movies.
Yeah but where did he get them?
Have seen people saying they don't care how it looks and the rest of it was pretty good....
How can people's standards be so low? Everything about it was utter garbage, the pacing was shit, dialogue was stilted as fuck, cos they cut out so much of it. Pretty sure the only decent music was just taken from the old anime/movies.
Can't believe how bad it was...
The episode was fine, you autists just need to stop looking so hard at the details and enjoy it.
In fact, it was so neat, I'm gonna go marthon 90s beserk.
I've seen much worse storytelling and cutting for adaptions. In that light it isn't GOD awful, but that animation...
They realize this is a visual medium right? And how the movement looks is a BIG part of it, right?
People shouldn't have tell them this...because then that's REALLY hard to forgive then. Budget or not it's hard to forgive
I feel like need to look at the details to enjoy it...
Ok tell me I'm nitpicking when you look at the screen and see the characters move around when it's not a fight scene. Can you tell me that looks right and not the least bit off to you?
Honestly, I don't really blame Miura. He just gives people a name to focus their frustrations on.
Really feel like it actually looks okay overall, with just some bad cringey moments here and there. Just kind of oscillates between looking like total shit and actually looking pretty good.
Don't see why people can't at least give credit where credit is due. But because some of it looks like shit that means ALL of it looks like total shit. It's just not objective reasoning.
I wasn't a huge fan of the third Berserk movie either.
The only things I really liked was Skull Knight's entrance at the end, and the aftermath between Guts with Casca post-Eclipse. I still think the best version of the actual Eclipse was with the 97 anime version.
I griped about the pacing and style, but I actually really like the oppressing atmosphere of the nightmare sequence. Gives me a little hope for improvement later down the line.
The movie was probably more faithful to the manga if anything with how graphic it was, but the thing that kind of killed it for me was the piano sonata. Not sure I felt like Hirasawa's music fit perfectly when I first saw that either, but the piano just seemed really out of context to me. If they wanted to use classical music they should have gone with something like Scelsi, or some other modern stuff that actually sounds bleak and frightening.
I preferred the movie version because it was just so much prettier, the 90s version was completely filled with stills even though it was the last episode and they even played the horribly fitting OP at the start.
Farnese is Italian, it would be pronounced like far-nay-say. Schierke looks like a German name, so it would be like sheer-kuh. At least that's how I always pronounced them in my head.
>loved the Golden Age movies
>Actually quality CGI with 2d allowed for some great scenes
>Faithful adaptation of the arc
>Slightly hopeful for the anime
Jesus /a/, just give me 8 more years on the boat if this is what we are getting.
>Isidro appears in the first episode
>Farnese Appears in the first episode
>Scheirke appears in the first episode
I'm surprised they didn't cut to a still shot of the boat as well.
That's fair. Giving the Eclipse a somber blue tone was actually a really cool choice for the movies.
I think the amount of time given to the desperation of everyone's individual plights and the pacing of Griffith's dream/hallucination really shone through in the 97 version.
Plus, I'm not a fan of how the movies rushed so many things, and yet decided they needed the rape scene to be so drawn out and explicit. The 97 Berserk showed less, as it focused more on the character's expressions and Femto enshrouding Casca with his wings, but I thought it was far more effective.
People don't pronounce things correctly according to the original tongue when it gets localized though. People don't even pronounce the word anime correctly to the japanese.
It might not capture the purity of the originals, but the potential of more dub outtakes is the solace I need right now.
Not being able to see the whole of the rape works better because it loses its erotic tone that was in both the manga and the film. It makes it more horrifying.
It annoyed me that Slan already had her tentacle hair in the film, but they made up for it with Conrads intro being him shouting. Shit was hilarious.
>Golden Age movies
>Faithful adaptation of the arc
You can't be serious, did you even read the manga or do you just not care about all the incredibly important shit that they cut.
>mfw Schierke is bloody Aoi Yuuki
I'm sorry for the Pepe, but it's the only way to show how I feel about this.
