Japanese Salaryman reborned as a cute little girl waging war in notWW1 + magic cutely
Tanya's assistant appears
Visha a cute! CUTE!!
It's a warzone
And it's her warzone
>the fucking rifle beam is literally point and drag like god damn MSPaint
No wonder mages were so godly in this series. Just one could probably annihilate an entire battalion of infantry if they are at a high altitude out of range.
When is best boy coming? We need our lord and savior, notStalin! Look how glorious he looks!
This is legitly one of the worst written pieces of fiction I have ever read. It's like you took an interesting concept but gave it to someone utterly incompetent.
I feel sorry for you losers.
could you elaborate?
I mostly use it in explain-y bits (on these scrolls) since it looks the "german" part and you can put a good amount of information in since it's a narrow font.
Is it too hard to read or hard on the eyes?
Personally I just don't like the way "Y" looks in that font, some other letters look weird too. It's a little hard to read but that might be a stretch since I'm probably used to the generic font like >>143316441.
It's confusing because a lot of the letters look completely different from what I'm used to.
Capital X looks like a z, regular x and r look like a c, y looks like a g and capital Y is an abomination. You get used to it eventually but the part is short enough that I'm annoyed by it from start to finish.
I used it in the last chapter for the same stuff and noone complained, I guess It's overused here a bit since it goes on for 7 pages.
For dialogue and other exposition I still use the other font, so this should be it for this chapter anyways.
I thought this was notWW2 especially with operation notBarbarossa.
It's raising the curtain, not rising the curtain and I'm unsure if you use curtains or curtain either.
If you won't use mage like Sky, you should use sorceress, not sorcerer. Gender difference.
Either the font is shit or it's a typo. Should be major not mayor.
I agree the font isn't very clear.
Thanks, will get on it when i'm home
Also I will look for a better font for these recap and exposition scrolls, I will use Grobe Deutschmeister only for names and places from now on
personally I love this font, butI agree if it gets annoying for people to read, the font should be changed
Don't worry about it too much, I wouldn't be able to keep up anyways, I will be busy the next 2 weeks with other things and can do typesetting only every other day. But after that I should be able to crank out ~5 pages a day at least (depending on how much I have to redraw)
guess I'll dump the TL script of a few more pages
South-west of imperial capital Bern
Airspace above Krooskos/Kurosukosu army airport experimental arsenal
Not again, useless piece of shit!!
Imperial army aerial sorcerer second lieutenant
Elinium type 95
Is what the [new model] operational orb is often called
Spontaneous discharge of engine (part)!! Safety mechanism activated/working!!
Unstable operation orbs ect. are like hand grenades
The various safety mechanism added from now on however...
Aborting test!! Aborting test!!
Sorcerer second lieutenant Degurechaff, deploying parachute!! Descending/Going down!!
-And with that ladies and gentlemen, we meet again. Tanya Degurechaff here. I think the sudden fireworks might be surprising/startling
I'd like to explain you my current situation of being forced into a sightseeing flight in these old rags
Because of my distinguished war service during the northern duty earlier, I was awarded the silvery wings/silver winged assault medal
Amongst the many medals of the empire, this one is one of the most valuable
And as a bonus on top of that I was easily granted an honourable second name by the office of sorcery
Tanya the silver/snow
The prolonged ceremonies for the sake of raising morale/fighting spirit and propaganda accumulated
Aah, farewell tranquillity
And hello bullshit daily life as a hero
With this I'll be bound to the front lines as an ace were I have to dance in the sky as a god of dead until I die. I bet this too is another instigation by this disgusting Existence X
I started cursing the heavens. But my HR documents caused something completely opposite of what I was expecting
Be honoured, this is an unofficial announcement for your attachment to the home country combat arts instruction unit, as well
As attachment to the commissioner office and a transfer request as technology inspector
Imperial army bureau of staff officers, HR office
Rear line duty!!!
And on top of that an assignment with no objections to pave the road on my career!!
Oops, not good
If I'm openly delighted here
Then it'll be seen as low fighting spirit, and I'll be in danger of having my evaluation decrease
Don't laugh yet
Keep a stiff facial expression
So this is
About turning an ace into a rear line decoration
This is blood-curdling!!
So this is the Silver/Snow!!
She must've escaped from the verge of dead in Norden like this
That look that seems to contain a dozen sour faces, did it go well?
Does that mean she is craving for the foremost front line as an imperial soldier!?
I'll accept something like the foremost front line ever again!
Her fighting spirit is that of a first grade officer!! Perceiving her as a little child was a mistake!!
Seems like he finally awakened to guilt for sending out a little child to the battlefield!!
Tanya Degurechaff wanted to return to the front lines, I'll have to indirectly let those above know that
Guess he'll talk about giving Tanya Degurechaff rear line duty with those above
- Anyhow, those above are evaluating you. You will test a new model operation orb for the office of communications commissioner
Since a (combat) sorcerer holding high skill just as the likes of you will be necessary
This isn't bad...!!
Yes. I understood without any objections
Assignment and orders acknowledged (No idea how to better word this)
And thus, I Tanya Degurechaff
Went off to quietly spend my remaining years participating in technology research in the save rear lines. And they all lived happily ever after
>Empire Top Brass either see Tanya's as a ruthless bloodthirsty killing machine in a child's body
>or a patriotic child willing to give her life for the imperial army
>Tanya's will never have the cushy rare line desk job she wanted
>I'll accept something like the foremost front line ever again!
She's against going back to the front line again so it''s
As if I'll accept something like the foremost front line ever again!
>Yes. I understood without any objections. Assignment and orders acknowledged
Yes Sir! I will accept the order and assignment without any objections!
So I was trying around with a few fonts and I really think I just go with the regular Anime Ace, since any "Fancier" font does has something that harm the readability. For 1-2 Pages it would be alright, like in the last chapter, but not for 6.
The anime has no chance of going for the original style of novels but if they can preserve the manga style and rely as little as possible on those "strategic map" explanations in mid-campaign/combat that Vanadis fell victim to then yeah I'll be content.
That is such an obvious Beria proxy, the face is an obvious resemblance as is the lust since Beria was basically playing the role of the fat old faceless man in doujins going around in his NKVD car picking up women to rape.
Try some of these if they offer better readability in the font size usually used for mango.
No idea as I can't test them at intended scenario and they're from my time as anime timer/typesetter where font sizes command bigger screen estate.
I still don't get why people were so bothered by that in Vanadis. That said, it's been a while and I hardly remember the show, but I don't remember being bothered by those segments. People seem to have just made a big deal out of it though.
I read the novels before that shit and they're fine for starters and enders of a fight but between action or phases of fight?
Should have just used the narration on top of some cheap cgi animation of formations moving or clashing.
It just showed how badly the studio was coping with the minimal budget they were given.
And the main crew just talking around on the field with break dancing kebabs around them was quite hilarious.
More like it's purely around or after ww1 and lends itself to the 2nd reich (18XX-1918) considering the notGermany is considered Empire.
Though of course it being fiction doesn't stop it from lending ww2 and other conflicts for themes and shit.
At least they had gorgeous character designs. Easily an upgrade over the LN, which was already pretty good on it's own but the prominent Shoujo features on the faces kinda make it hard to take them as seriously. The anime had a very good balance which worked out well when Tigre got his arrow moments that took up 90% of the budget. It just wouldn't have worked if they animated it in the LN art style with that music, way too hard to take seriously when it's basically Koihime Musou style or whatever.
As for Youjo, it all depends on the budget and studio. Who knows? No really, do we know anything at this point?
The font style itself isn't a problem in an artistic sense, but the way the font thickens many portions of each letter rendering them hard to distinguish from each other is the main problem. If you found a similar looking font that doesn't go THICC on the strokes then it'd probably be perfect.
Glad chapter 2 is still being worked on.
The biggest offender for Vanadis was the illustration being what it is. And didn't they also have some other guy fill-in for the middle volumes or do I remember wrong?
I'm glad it got an anime since without it I wouldn't have found it but one could pretty much see that the owners didn't really want to spend extra money on an ad for the series.
Poor studios, I remember a director for another series tweeting that he was pulling long days with just energy drinks and asking if people were fine with the series.
And no we don't know anything about Youjo's plan other than it has been announced. Kinda makes it seem like they're not going to aim for 2016 at all with each passing month.
It's clearly based on kaiserreich, nerd
the old Stalhelm, yeah, and only after Verdun.
I still think it's more based on WWII Germany with a fanatically militarist country, as well as decent combined arms between air assets (both mages and presumably planes), artillery and infantry communicating via radio. The uniforms seem more modern than the WWI uniforms, too. Most of the WWI bit seem to be tied into the motivations for the war, and I think that's on purpose in the same way that naziboos push the same causes as the main motivation for WWII Germany.
>During the early months of World War I, it was soon discovered that the Pickelhaube did not measure up to the demanding conditions of trench warfare. The leather helmets offered virtually no protection against shell fragments and shrapnel and the conspicuous spike made its wearer a target. These shortcomings, combined with material shortages, led to the introduction of the simplified model 1915 helmet (...), with a [detachable spike]. In September 1915 it was ordered that the new helmets were to be worn without spikes, when in the front line.
Literally 75% of the war was fought without the spikes.
Well it seems more like prolonged 2nd reich ww1 extending into ww2 territory of what we know now how the railways and combined arms fight instead of being about 3rd reich and nazi ideology.
I always thought it was an in-between thingy, it's like if WW1 didn't happen but technology advanced to WW2 level.
Also, you can't have the nazi's rise to power without WW1, versaille, recession and the weak weimar republic.
Was it really necessary to make the MC a reincarnated salaryman? Why not just have the MC just be a zealous, sociopathic child on her own terms?
I understand the reincarnation thing to give the readers a straight man in the foreign fantasy world.
idk why the loli bit was needed though- just Nips being Nips I guess. Not to say I don't like it, mind you
That would have required deeper and more longer introduction on her child years and pre-service shit at the cadet school. And somewhat cut out her beef with X and co.
If not for her past career you'd have to cutout her two-faced acting from the series or reconstruct why she would want a comfy homefront job while to others she appears like a bloodthirsty warmonger.
>Was it really necessary to make the MC a reincarnated salaryman?
Why don't you answer your own question and read the prologue? Does he sound like your average cubicle working 9-5 man?
I'm not familiar with the background of Vanadis anime, I just thought it was done rather well with the budget they had. They prioritized all the important things, the girls, the arrows, and I guess Tigre's flowing hair in the wind. The music wasn't bad either.
I'd argue it was a better anime adaptation than Overlord, despite Vanadis being vastly less popular as a LN. I have read/watched the anime/manga/LN for both series, and Vanadis does a better job at choosing what content to cut.
Probably helps that Overlord is more wordy and has more exposition. Unlike Vanadis there was no CG Risk simulator but on the other hand you basically lose context for everything assuming there's S2, let alone the context given in for S1 itself.
Nobody knows as of yet.
And yeah Overlord had it harder on what to cut, the only actually good moments were with Gazef/Ainz facing Sunlight Scripture and the cemetary part. Everything else was less than stellar but not really bad either.
At least Vanadis felt like it had easier time on cutting out the growing tasks of Tigre and easier to just rely on the actual political nature of the conflict that served as the plot's spine. Overlord was driven by the characters and cutting or padding there is way more prone to disasters (see Brain and Shalltear fight).
The level of writing for the content doesn't exactly allow for autismo's to come in and shit up everything.
Let's not pat ourselves on the back just yet, as we all know what an anime can do to a dedicated few.
And Youjo is even crazier than Overlord, they will basically have to make up scenes like how the manga uses those dumb animals and shit but it's basically no different than the CG Risk map Vanadis did. Even if it's hand drawn, Tanya and friends won't be there unless the exposition shares the screen while they do SOL/generic fighting, and not even the manga did that.
Manga also cut most of the sociology stuff and what makes Tanya think like she does now. Not that you can really fault them with panel restrictions on progression.
And I'm fine with risk maps when it's for the start of campaign and offensive or a finisher but it's total mood kill suddenly in mid-action.
>Japanese Salaryman reborned as a cute little girl waging war in notWW1 + magic cutely
FUCK FUCK FUCK
why can't they just leave out the "japanese man reborn" part? same with mushoku tensei, it would've made for a much better series
Probably to accentuate that she's still technically a kid, but proportions get pretty wacky here as you can see in captain cooldude's chin in this chapter or the salaryman pre-reincarnation.
>Tanya may act like that given how much of a brown-noser she is.
Each chapter is long, yes, but not 5 months long.
The reason each chapter is time consuming is because you need more than 1 guy working on it and you can't just MTL your ass with a couple of mooks and an editor.
>Tanya will never grow to be a
She doesn't have much. The manga gave her a tad more but it pales compared to her friend and is only noticeable compared to Tanya.
Read the LN, she rambles on about lacking the goods herself.
Well, the last chapter is titled "Primeval Battalion"
and the last image (other than the extras at the end) is of Tanya standing victoriously on someone's head sort of like this.
Is enjoying these types of pragmatic characters edgy?
It's always nice to see rather then watching a character just floundering around aka Suburu who couldn't even figure out that he was replaying until his like what third life?
He died 3 times so he figured it out on his fourth life. What a twat.
I dunno whether this is notWW1 or notWW2 anoymore, maybe it a combination of both
>Battle in notEurope theater now come to a temporary suspension, notGerman occupied notFrance, and then notFrance rebels established notFree France in colony, and Tanya is now under the command of notRommel to combat them in notAfrica
I was waiting so long that yesterday, I actually had half of the chapter transcript written out in nip.
Now he comes out with parts of his translation and I don't know what to do.
Maybe do the third chapter in secret?
And he should be taking notes on how to build a better management system. Though I have my doubts on how he views the "faith" inspired by Tanya in the random public of Empire.
So far we've only seen the reports and talk from the higher ups who think that the miracle is something of a coincidence and not something they would sing praises on faith alone for.
The Empire will view her actions as patriotic and a role model to the imperial citizens that it''s their God given right to serve and defend their country in times of need. At the moment Tanya's is the Empire's perfect propaganda tool
As long as Visha doesn't suffer greatly and Tanya doesn't tell her men to die needlessly I have no problems with struggling.
After all she is bound to fall on hard times or dead end as hypothesized by God in the experiment he "agreed" to throw Tanya into. The curse wouldn't be as bad otherwise.
Dumping next batch of youjo senki ch. 2 (8-15)
I still use that font for names and places, since I used it in the last chapter for it, too
this chapter, needs a lot off proofreading, too.
doesn't really help that neither the translator nor I are native speakers
I didn't feel confident enough to redraw the shoulder part in page 12, so I let it be for now
or I find someone to do it
Would be amusing if in the end Tanya manages to outplay the X or any of their plans.
But in the end if she were to do something like be the Raistlin of this story it would mean she would have to turn the "magic" and multiverse on its heads for a plan.
Which seems improbable how rooted the story is in sociology and management, and little bit of economics.
An 180 down the line wouldn't really do it justice unless X forces/steers Tanya's hand and frankly I don't see this series being long enough to depart from what themes 1st vol offers so far.
I think silver make more sense since the nickname was given to her because she earned that medal.
She's later known as Rusted Silver by her peers in later volumes due to her being so ruthless and bloodthirsty in combat that she's covered in blood (rust) after most combat
Maybe a little, depending how she views herself of a pragmatic; annoyed by her frame but makes up for it with doping and magic.
I for one just want to see Tanya dominate other people, preferably the rare girls in the story (or the yankee rival/antagonist). Or men.
Yeah they're quite damn clueless but I still can't see this story going down the demigod/usurp. Maybe a forcing of X & Co. to realize and admit their mistake.
Particularly in the management model that MC told them after he realized his jab was going the wrong way (of landing himself in deep shit).
And yeah, finding "old" germanic font that's easy to read quickly is a major pita. The font used previously so far is pretty good for headlines and that kind of stuff in boxes/signs but reading it for prolonged times can get bit annoying.
Oh please enlighten us on what each of the ugly web comic tier animals represent then? Wanna explain why it has to be drawn like complete dog shit that even /co/ wouldn't want?
Not him but this type of caricaturing was commonplace in the reporting of said years in the past.
Meaning they wanted to make homefront cause look noble and endearing while the opponents are anything but.
Just look at >>143371134 and you should be able to see how cartographic propaganda shows clearly what the countries are supposed to "stand" for.
Propaganda, plain and simple though the manga does indeed make them all look bit too cute so you have to think of the species along with the expressions they have.
THAT UNIFORM WAS NOT YOURS TO PISS ON
THAT UNIFORM IS WEHRMACHT PROPERTY
I understand that part, but I am asking two things, and basically implying to contesting one.
1. The 'cuteness' of the animals in Youjo is in fact not cute at all, like I said while it does have that western touch to it, the designs reek of web comic shit like Dobson instead of actual cartoons like Disney or Peanuts (The former doesn't apply obviously but the latter style was used a lot more back then). It wasn't so much that they chose animals that I found stupid, but that they chose to make them look retarded including the ones representing the Empire.
It's one thing if it was someone else explaining the exposition but for the most part usually the propaganda/strategic explanations are done by Tanya or with Tanya, and therefore it makes no sense that a former Japanese elite salaryman would envision it like some /co/ reject. I don't mind it being western, but it doesn't impress the idea that the Empire are the 'good guys' they look just as derp as everyone else with not one redeeming factor.
The species and expressions are what everyone would use to infer, but I was obviously accusing the guy that he doesn't know what each one actually represents and would get it wrong if he posted what he thought, thereby proving my point that the designs suck.
But since I had to explain it, that kinda kills the entire point.
