I don't think many people hate her. It's just that the story wasn't about her. It was about Satoru saving Kayo. People were pissed that Kayo ended up marrying Satoru's friend, and that Airi was thrown in again last second as a consolation prize.

I heard the manga places more emphasis on Airi, and that's great. But the main focus of the anime adaptation was Satoru and Kayo's relationship, and it just didn't deliver

Almost nobody hates her, how can you hate a character that barely has any appearances and relevance. I read the manga also and her involvement isn't that much different than the anime.

How could Gaku get away with his 20 - 25 victims without being found? His first almost-victim (not counting in the brother) was that girl with the cards that was saved by Satoru in 1980. So he must have killed around 3 people a year after that to reach that count at 1988, at least in the manga. And he probably killed a lot more in the first timeline anyway.

She's a actually worse in the manga. Her appearances near the end of the manga, the anime cut, just dragged the story and made the ending feel less stupid.

I wonder what would have happened if Satoru told Yashiro about his plans from the beginning. He saw him as nice helpful person anyway so it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume that and he could always lie for the reasons why he believes that the three kids would get killed. I wonder if Yashiro would have suspected Satoru of being strange in that case since he probably didn't even know whom he would kill yet, considering that Hiromi's murder was just a result of the ongoing investigations, and I don't know if he was already planning to kill Aya at that point.
