Yes, but not THIS whacked. It was comfy/10 until about the end of the first episode, with one minor gaffe about the other students who didn't graduate from psy-kindergarten.

This show is in my top 5 still. It is really good no matter what the people on /a/ like to spout about. Actual novels really do make better series than light novels.

I watched Shinseki Yori expecting a fantasy with kids with special abilities but got something much more than expected. If you haven't realized by now this show is not a fantasy, but a sci-fi.

It's a pretty good one too, the social commentary in there were pretty chilly.

I've noticed the cover of the manga adaptation is super eechi. What's up with that? Unsuspecting Readers picking up the manga will even have a bigger surprise.

Oh good, that makes this episode slightly more tolerable.

SSY is heavily flawed but I can't help loving it.

It's so unique and interesting in setting, tone and little details and it's one of my favorite shows. Yet still, even when I rewatched it, I was reminded of its flaws and you often have to force yourself to keep watching, especially in the beginning. Later on it takes a turn and you can't help but continue watching, but you have to get there first.

So I don't really mind when people don't like it because I can definitely understand that there are reasons to feel that way. Still, I like it and I'm excited to rewatch it again some day.

Came close to dropping it too but it really does get better. One of the best anime endings I've ever seen. The part with the cat things was legitimately scary too.

I got past the rat wars and the time skip. I didn't think it was great, but it managed to hold my interest and the setting was slightly intriguing.

Got to somewhere around where the MC is set up to be groomed into the new leader figure and lost what little interest I had. I'm not saying the show is shit, but personally I found it very forgettable. The bland characters might have had something to do with it.
