Fluffy loli confirmed best girl.
Great, now I'm gonna have to self-insert as a cat
Sorry, this one's better.
Man ships are pretty cool, maybe I should join the navy.
My father was a sailor.
He used to take me on board the ships he was working on whenever they were in port in our city, I kinda miss that.
It's a shitty job in some aspects, but it could be nice for someone with no friends or family like an average anon.
Though on the other hand no privacy would suck and I imagine the majority of the worlds' ships still have no internet for the private crew use.
I'm not really saying it looks good, but there's a ton of small unnecessary movements particularly in the first half of the episode.
Plus no side mouth, they're obviously trying hard.
I wonder who is the left girl, maybe a U-Boat captain come to help MC?
No, Kobayashi Yuu lookout is best girl.
Will cute girls do close cute combat against filthy instructor?
too early to tell, but I thought the first episode was interesting enough.
>attack kids with live ammo
>kids struggle to flee and save their lives but succeed
>give them shit for it
100% chance you're right, but does that really matter? What's important is if it's actually a good show. It felt like there's more effort put into it than a blatant cash in, and Arpeggio and KanColle didn't really tackle life on a ship which is where this seems to be going.
Well, having actually finished the episode, it's a better anime than all of the stuff people are saying it's ripping off.
But I'm not sure it has better girls than any of them, and that's a bit of a problem.
>But I'm not sure it has better girls than any of them, and that's a bit of a problem.
The girls are pretty weak in design and character. The first half of the episode was boring but I think it's going to be fun now they're at sea if they don't go 'training exercise' and they're actually on the run.
This one has Aniplex bucks, and the other has LN Publisher bucks, Active Raid had neither of those things. I think another reason Active Raid worked out is because IMS wasn't doing the action, which is also the case here.
Main girl seems like a cool captain though.
I don't see how you can say they're weak in design, I love GuP but I definitely think the girls have better, or at least more varied character designs here. Character wise it's way too early to tell, but the main ones got enough development for a first episode.

It's got better characters than KanColle anime for sure, but I'm not sure about the franchise as a whole since I never got into it and it had to get popular for SOME reason.
But it definitely doesn't have anyone anywhere as good as Yukari.
Will these girls do close combat to raid supplies from other ships?
If their training ammo was replaced with live torpedoes to frame them, their communications are probably sabotaged, too. Even if it isn't, they fucked up by not being the first ones to radio back. She shouldn't have ordered a counter-attack before letting anyone know they were under attack, but the attackers were probably banking on them assuming it was a training exercise and calling in for backup instead of solving it on their own would be a failure.
What if they're doing a double bait and switch and the whole mutiny misunderstanding gets resolved in the first five minutes of the next episode and it turns out the instructor just wanted to teach them a lesson and the rest of the show is a drama-free SoL?
Keep in mind that the instructor's ship did receive their message that they would be late to the rendezvous.
>the instructor just wanted to teach them a lesson
Can't see it happening. I thought that's what the situation was initially, but her reporting the "mutiny" makes no sense in that context.
Musashi was also absent. Who knows what the deal is there, but maybe they will end up working together.
Could be a weird "tough love" thing where she identified the Best Captain and has devised a special training method to bring out her true potential or whatever. It'd be a really cheap out and I hope it doesn't take it, but it could still happen.
Goddamn, I really hope they don't go full BB with loli deaths.
It's all an elaborate training excercise, isn't it? I can't even really get invested in the drama because I know this is what it's going to turn out to be. They were late for what was likely a briefing and now they are 'it' for a war game scenario. It'll probably resolve itself around episode 3-4 and then the rest of the show will be standard bullshit.
>Side of ship leaking tons of fuels
>Ship got almost half flooded
>Bridge member got evacuated at the message scene
Ship pretty much got heavy damage anon.
They didn't hide that there would be mutiny. They hid that there would be ships. In a show called Highscool Fleet. It'd be like if Girls und Panzer tried to hide that there would be tanks. I have no idea what they were trying to accomplish, but I don't think it confirms there'll be a grimdark twist.
Like the one all its fuel was leaking into the water from?
That doesn't really make sense. There'd be no reason to show her telling HQ that they'd mutined (and HQ being shocked), nor would there be live weapons.
Interesting that it has this exact shot from the prologue sequence... but without the ship.
I'm planning to make a picture that lists the names and jobs of everyone in the show, but this is sorta failing on my lack of military knowledge. Like, "Main Battery Aimer" and "Main Battery Turner" don't really sound right at all.
Why's Japan flooded to hell while Korea is just fine?
Because Japan sinks.
>Japan is on a destructive plate boundary, where the Philippine Plate subducts the Eurasian Plate. It is a triple junction and three subduction zones are involved. After the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, towns like Ishinomaki subsided.
>Image like this
>It's all going to be a cute moe SoL guys nothing happens!
At the least it will be like Sora no Woto and not be in your face about how the world is fucked.
The Frodoposting is alive and well this season.
Did you anons like this episode? I did.
When GuP panned out at the end of the first episode and showed the city was floating on an aircraft carrier, everyone immediately started speculating about how it was post apocalyptic and they'd go to actual war at some point. Even if they do go on the run, that doesn't mean anyone's going to die. It could happen, but don't act like its guaranteed. SnW didn't kill anyone off either.
I can only imagine Japan is still sinking. It can't just sink partway. It might get explained more in future episodes.
Also there has to be a reason for this mutiny ruse. Political instability, corruption and such.
I guess they aren't only changing the website.
I'm betting Moeka knows something and either fled or was attacked because of it in the same way, and they'll later overhear some radio chatter about how the Musashi was sunk by the state, cue angst.
They later turn out to have been picked up by the rebels or pirates or whoever the main girls eventually join, cue heartmelting reunion scene.
If they are going this far to fucking change everything from the website to billboard images then SOMEHOW I think the plot is going to be a bit different from what was expected.
Just a thought, you know? Hardly rocket science.
I feel this is likely. Moeka looks like she's super competent and probably realised something.
I bet there's some conspiracy on the island and the Blue Mermaids are part of it.
>Peaceful Diary of High School Fleet
Kebab on suicide boat can incapacitate modern destroyer
>SOMEHOW I think the plot is going to be a bit different from what was expected.
Instead of being a generic highschool SoL, it takes place on a ship. Nobody knew about that part because they were so tight lipped. Who knows why they went to such lengths to hide the entire premise, but that doesn't really change anything. It's not like the updated pictures show anyone suffering.
She's got to have some agenda or knowledge of her own. I doubt she just had some random engine troubles like the klutz-moe main character did. Either that or she was attacked by whatever the real enemies are, to similar net effect.
>Instead of being a generic highschool SoL
I don't know about that. Didn't the original synopsis already establish the fact that a large part of Japan was already reclaimed by the sea? It even mentioned some potential conflict.
It makes literally 0 sense that they would go to such lengths to cover up something so irrelevant. Like, would it become that much more popular? Are they just banking on baiting with the whole military gimmick ala GuP and Kancolle with this?
Or is it going to be something bigger? Should find out in a few episodes more. I wouldn't put it past them to change the advertisements more with each episode.
Honestly reports about what actually happened have been so all over the place I wasn't sure what I was getting going in. The most stated summary was that they were going to be lifeguards or scavengers piloting mini-mechs.
>I wouldn't put it past them to change the advertisements more with each episode.
That would actually make a lot of sense.
They continually change the websites and adverts as more gets revealed.
I especially don't get why they went out of the way to hide it when at the same time it seemed like they're main advertising gimmick before hand was essentially, "Hey guys look, it's got a bunch of GuP staff!"
Kind of want.
It's going to be one of those hard work versus talent pairs. Moeka studies hard and is great at everything, but as a captain Akeno wins. I bet she was (or will be) attacked as well, but lost because she didn't act decisively.
Because it's good PR for the show since it makes people talk about it and spread awareness about that show. If they advertised it as what it really was from the start, it would spark less interest since we wouldn't be having these discussions.
That's what makes me thinking it's more. Getting so shady just over hiding it's set on boats and not at sea? First episode already has a bit of drama going to set things up. It's not like they'd just blow their load now and show girls suffering in advertisements before anything actually happens in the show.
Hence I think it's going to be a gradual thing. They're clearly putting effort into the advert side of things with this shit so I doubt it's half-assed. Has to be more to this.
I'm sure there will be some teasing, particularly from Shiro's side. But Akeno will only ever make a face like this for Moeka.
>By the end of the show they're grizzled mercenary pirate lolis with peg legs and eye patches
I need this. Worst case scenario it's a cop out, I hope its at least as much of a clusterfuck as c3bu.
The Haifuri op can be considered suitable also for a "deep" moe anime.
>Cutest little quad launcher
Why no superior Quintuple launcher?
I want to pet them.
I doubt it. The conflict seems to involve something entirely different. If Moeko does end up fighting Akeno, it won't be because she wants to. On the other hand, if she's attacked and loses, she will die or get captured. Either way, the theme of "hard work vs talent" won't be brought up.
Yeah, I'm sure the fact that one of the main characters' favorite quotes is literally "hard work beats talent" won't ever be relevant. It's not like it's one of Japan's favorite themes to force into everything.
The OP makes me feel like the MC's ship is going to try and take out others and try and convert them to their side before working as a team to take out the Blue Mermaids who are actually evil or some shit.
It's just begun.
>doing a double take at the name
Did everyone miss this?
Calling it now, she recognized the name because one of Misaki's parents is some kind of military big shot and it's all a plot to frame their daughter and force them to resign.
I'm expecting that. Same reason why she's captain too even though she says she shouldn't be
It describes her personality. That doesn't mean it will be relevant as a theme.
If this show had a sport-like setup (like gup) and Moeka was a rival character, I could see what you propose happening. But that's not the case. The story here involves some sort of conspiracy as far as I can see. Shoehorning a subplot of "hard work vs talent" into this would be pretty nonsensical.
Unless Moeka is somehow the mastermind here, but I don't see it, at all.
If you think Ren-chon had shellshock then just wait until the finale.
>Isoroku....I'm already a demon
Dibs on megane.
It's not a subplot, it's a character dynamic. Personalities aren't picked at random, they're picked to support the show's themes and story. The show has already directly given us the parallels and contrasts between them.
A theme is something you have to develop over time. Moeka isn't even a main character who will appear often enough to make any personality trait of hers into a theme. Besides, the focus of the show is definitely on the whatever conspiracy the main characters got involved with, not on a competition between Moeka and Akeno.
>High Free Spirits
Oh you and your puns
Has Reiko Yoshida even done grimdark before? All of her stuff tends to be pretty family friendly. Considering they have her listed as script supervisor and not just script maybe she's just there so they can say "from the writer of Girls und Panzer" in the advertising package.
Weird they don't show her crew members on the website
This girl is fucking cute.
Is this show taking place in some Boku Dake timeline where Kayo joined the navy to escape her abusive mom?
The resemblance is uncanny.
No idea what that means. Stop typing like a retard.
She has the biggest dick
She played them like a damn fiddle.
They get shit for attacking their instructor but not expelled.
But to be of the safe side they send an official observer with the Harekaze crew.
You can see her using the radio here.
>yfw it turns out she has
SUCH A LUST FOR REVENGE
She seemed so nice.
I hope bitch-sensei gets what's coming to her by the end of the series.
What a fucking trash instructor.
Again, what has competition got to do with it? As the captain of the only other ship not at the island, Moeka is pretty obviously also going to be involved in the story, even if she wasn't also part of the protagonist's backstory and her counterpart as a captain. Expecting their interactions not to be colored by the information about them from their profiles is naive.
I tried to translate the character info, but the end result is less than stellar. I guess it's better than nothing though.
Where do you think half the animation for this show was done?
It's their final mission. They must prove their innocence by killed their teacher. Why would she go easy?
Is this show trying to be serious or not? I can't tell. The girls act like moeshits but then something serious happens out of nowhere but they continue to act like moeshits. I'm confused.
OP quite hints at
Mochahaving a strong role. Childhood friends don't just disappear from a plot when you lay it on so thick. I do think the conspiracy will be the main plot but also that she'll have some involvement.
As much effort as with Madoka? (I wasn't here when it first aired, but I have heard about how they tried to hide Urobutcher's involvement and they made the cutesy OP just to cover things up.)
>implying sexhair isn't best girl
>they tried to hide Urobutcher's involvement
They did a poor job of that, because everybody knew. And they said to keep watching until episode 3 because shit would go down and the tone of the show would change. But they did try to hide the OP and ED and some marketing stuff until then.
Wrong anime for that, anon.
Kind of like how a lot of people knew with this show cause of the pre-air and just the direction the advertising started to take a few weeks back. It's basically like playing a hidden card that everybody pretty much suspected was there so I'm not really sure what effect it has if any. It's kind of hard to do wrong using this formula right now so I just don't get why they went to so much trouble to try to hide it and pretend it was something else other than Aniplex advertising ideas. They really seem to love this whole bait and switch thing ever since Madoka.
One of the students on the ship is a princess, and the instructor had an interest in making sure the princess will be out of commission. The rest of the show will be an odyssey with the training ship fleeing from the authorities, while at the same time trying to prove their innocence and uncovering the conspiracy the instructor is part of.
She's the main character's childhood friend with a prologue sequence about the two of them, the captain of the fleet's flagship (and only non-Harekaze character to get a slot on the character chart), and she's the only other ship not to reach the island. Why be delusional about this?
This show better have an Akagi x Kaga style relationship or im going to be sad.
Surprisingly really good, All the girls are cute.
I always found cute girls doing things that are usually done by men tanks/ships really interesting.
If it stays lighthearted it'll be great.
How exactly do you propose the mystery develop if nobody who has anything to do with it is allowed to be part of the story? The point is that it makes sense at the end, not that it only ever does anything at the end. It's like expecting Homura not to be part of Madoka's story until the finale.
Only this so far.
Every other NSFW thing is garbage doodles.
Not even the lolis, adorable as they are, make BB worth watching.
Is this going to be a deconstruction of the cute girls military genre by aniplex?
>How exactly do you propose the mystery develop if nobody who has anything to do with it is allowed to be part of the story?
The blond chick probably knows a bit, just enough to start the plot rolling. We'll probably get some short scenes from the teacher and such too.
I felt reminded by Vivid butt, but then it became GuP and then YYY.
In a surprise twist they kill off the captain and the deputy-captain becomes the MC solving the mystery behind her fallen comrade and the mutiny, with the captain's old best friend becoming the main rival because she blames the deputy for her death.
>yfw they kill off the Harekaze and Musashi crew become MC
Sexhair is mine, I'm calling dibs first.
Why on earth would you want to hide a mystery? If you hide a mystery until it's solved, then there IS no mystery, just a finale with no foreshadowing. If it's a mystery, then she has to be around, doing mysterious things.
Seriously, why are you going to this length in deluding yourself that the only other ship on the cast list won't be important?
>he never tripped because of those
Not /a/utistic huh kiddo
>[twist intensifies internally]
I called her yesterday.
Also looking at http://www.hai-furi.com/character/ again, and damn they changed the website too.
Before it was they were showing the full portraits of each character instead of the faceshot and didn't have the positions or insignias.
What they called "Accounting Department " is the comfiest shit you can do on a ship. It's literally lazing for the entire day. Especially when crew is so tiny. Weird there is no camp boss though. I guess they don't have a cantina.
Her hair is moving too much, it's pretty weird how this looks so cheap yet seems to have a lot of small animation like this.
>They pull down the cheerful advertisement and web site, make it dark
>Next week everything is fine
>they put up a different cheerful advertisement and website
>the bait was making people think it was a bait and switch and the switch is it actually wasn't
>No character that shares a birthday with you
This one is one day later, so I guess I'll claim her.
It still wasn't a live torpedo.
This is a mk.48 hit:
Those have 300kg warhead.
Long Lances had almost 500kg.
Instructor bitch is framing them for some reason.
The mystery will get forshadowed just fine. That's probably why the blond girl joins their crew. She'll probably know just enough to get things rolling. But if Moka knows everything, they can't let her show up now. Besides, the fact that Moka is missing may be used as a motivation factor to make Akeno defect and go look for her. Which in turn might give credibility to the teacher's accusation of mutiny.
That's a weird sub.
It's almost as if not all ships and all explosives are the same.
It hit the ship and caused it to begin to sink. That's not what training ammunition does. Furthermore, the girls knew they were being attacked with live ammunition because it exploded AT ALL, which their torpedo clearly also did.
Might, might, might. You're reaching massive distances to maintain an incredibly flimsy (and bizarre) premise, and even then it doesn't make sense. Again, this is like saying Homura can't be involved in Madoka's story because she knows what's going on.
