The kind that would make George Lucas jealous of their poetic rhymes.
While Gendo always seems like a real badass I thought he was a really pathetic little shit when hearing about his motivation for doing all this.
You can argue that it's still badass because he went through with it in so many situations, but I can't help but think it's really weak to devote your entire life to a single person and not be able to move on if shit doesn't work out.
It feels like saying a fedora wearing neckbeard is badass for continuously trying to swoon m'lady because he devoted his entire life to her. It's not exactly a fair comparison because Gendo was actually successful when it came to women, but his mindset seems to be just as pathetic only much colder. It doesn't help that he appears to be a complete social failure and those that do like him do it for petty reasons, such as Ristuko's electra complex or her mother maybe because of his skill as a scientist or something.
I think it sort of humanises the more obscure bits of the story. Kind of a counterpoint to the big mythical conspiracy shit with Seele is that some sad fuck dad can't let go of his waifu and ruins everything.
I agree that it's good since it humanises him, though it's weird when people still see him as a badass even though the show tells us that he is just as pathetic if not even more so than the other characters of the show.
>though it's weird when people still see him as a badass even though the show tells us that he is just as pathetic if not even more so than the other characters of the show.
It's like a realistic depiction of people who always try to act cool; deep down inside they're just naive children who think they're better than everyone else. Sort of like how someone with James Bond's personality would never get laid in the real world
How did he hide that from the others? it's not fucking invisible, That Kozo fucker would atleast know about it right?
