He's the strong and cool edgelord everyone wants to be when they're 12.

While his characterization was utter shit as expected of anime in general (but especially with shounen), his concept was a good enough idea. A villain turned antihero / rival + life long combat partner to the main protagonist. Plus, a lot of the humor comes from the fact he was a planet-destorying warrior prince who now has to live in Bulma's house.
