I would enjoy this more if the guy was 25 years or more, 45 is just too much, he could have had children older than her.
It also makes me think of their future if they ever get together, he might die while she's still very young, that's too sad for me, I would rather an end with the guy coming back to his divorced wife somehow, and she moving on with a nice gentle guy almost her age that reminds her of him.

I think the age gap is fine, but the way this is being handled isn't the best. While it isn't crazy for manga to have love stories develop from nothing, this poor guy is shit on so much that you really gotta wonder why this woman is willing to (probably) throw away her youth to be with him. I was actually happy for a moment that the shoujo guy finally stood against Mary Sue's selfishness and acted like a real person would. It's almost like he acted like a male reader and knew that if they did long distance "shoujo college senpai archetype B" and "shoujo eccentric artsy free love professor archetype D" would be making passes at her the entire time.

But of course it got crushed in the next chapter.
