Looks good tb h. KyoAni finds a way once again.
Somehow it didn't meet my expectation. It's like too Mirai there
That is pretty average. Is skeleton is your ideal size?
Praying for Mai Nakahara to play Shouko. PLS LET IT HAPPEN KYOANI
It looks surprisingly
fine.I thought the design will stray quite far from the manga.
The one thing I dislike about Kyoani is how they fucking slap their art style to every fucking thing they do
I can still fucking notice it in here but it's clear they tried their hardest to match the source material, so props to them
It was announced from the start that they're adapting the serialization, anon.
I don't remember the X's in the one shot.
Then again, maybe they only adapt oneshot+vol. 1 of the manga only
>objective best girl Sahara animated
the dick in my heart is rock solid
did you even read the manga?
the PV literally shows something that is only in the serialized version, not the oneshot. One with a sufficient amount of intelligence would conclude then that this movie would be covering the serialized version.
what exactly are you trying to achieve? the evidence is right there
It actually could very well be. The source material is more than good enough and the director did a really good job for the K-On movie and especially Tamako Love Story.
You're right, it won't be as good.
It'll be better.
I still like Ishihara than other directors, though PW is his weakest anime.
Takemoto comes to second, then Yamada. Yamada looks improved a lot in this anime, at this point she will be my first favorite director after surprised me with Love Story.
Already did, it's good but not amazing. Love Story is far better than K-ON movie. And I think Koe no Katachi will be more better than Love Story.
Yamada directed K-ON! 7 years ago and now she's still one of the youngest anime director.
That's quite impressive if you think about it.
The main reason she looks like Mirai 2.0 I think is due to Yamada or Kyoani's more subtle style quirks rather than the character design, which looks accurate.
The hands look angular up close and lumpy from farther away. There's a shit ton of line breaks instead of simply varying the line thickness. The colors are all bright and desaturated. The backgrounds are blurred to a distracting degree. All of this is enough to give away it was produced by Kyoani.
The PV is also Yamada as fuck. Close up of chin, close up of eyes with blurry background, close up of hands with blurry background.
>m-m-muh KyoAni doesn't adapt design well
Get fucked anti-GodAni faggots
>They turned them into moeblobs.
not sure if you're trollingor just blind
I can't believe I want to get back on the wild ride.
Phantom World is considerably better than Chuu. There is no problem with his directing, it's just that he gets the absolute worst source material to adapt. He's a good director and improved PW instead of animating the shit that was the LN.
Not quite happy. Expected it to look more dark and pessimistic. The latest Okada movie fits the expectations of what it should have been more than the sugary Yamada fantasy.
I`d best preffer it to look depressing and desolate, to fit the manga.
> The PV is also Yamada as fuck. Close up of chin, close up of eyes with blurry background, close up of hands with blurry background.
Movie WAS garbage, but its still the best looking modern piece of animation work in terms of production values and actual animators work put into it.
Pic related. I'm biased though as it's bases on a manga by one of my favorite mangaka ever, Fumiyo Kouno
>the best looking modern piece of animation work in terms of production values and actual animators work put into it
No it isn't, how can you even say that? As I said, Kyokai no Kanata movies looks way better, and that's not even close to being one of the best anime movies in terms of production values, something like Ghost in the Shell, Tokyo Godfathers or Paprika are. I might be a KyoAnus licker myself but at least I'm not as deluded as the average Sunrise fag. Also
>3D hands playing piano
Yamada is one of the better directors at showing character acting. But I really hope her directing style evolves because it's getting predictable. The closeups are irritating for how they always scream at you to pay attention to this little nugget of body language. And it feels claustrophobic when combined with the boke blur.
The directing from K-ON!! to the movie was literally perfect. No post-processing autism and the camera was put far away enough that you could observe everyone in the room. It wasn't tryhard.
Looks a lot better than I was expecting. I thought KyoAni would go for their usual art style but this looks quite a bit like the manga.
I somewhat agree, she's a good director but she isn't really evolving. I've been saying this for some time, perhaps she simply finished her development but I mean she is still young and hadsbased Takehomo around. Hopefully he can teach her a thing or two.
I loved KnK Mirai-hen, but its nowhere near.
>Ghost in the Shell, Tokyo Godfathers or Paprika
We are talking MODERN movies.
Of the relatively modern movies only Summer Wars can compete, and even it is inferior in terms of animation cast and detail.
I guess autists cant see animation even if smashed in a face with it. Would explain number of trigger fans.
The movie has better and more actual superb animation than few seasons of anime. Hell, many of Akira cast worked on it.
>currently active at KyoAni
I'm starting to warm up to Takemoto since, even though I'm critical of his recent stuff, I can't point out a single weakness in his style. And he did the Kyon monologue. If only he had mentored Yamada instead of Ishithara. I hope they do work together some day.
>This asshurt Sunrisefag bringing Nerawareta for some reason
Hell, Hibike episode 12 had better production values
You just mad i have my own underage idol harem that calls me Producer san that i can fuck anytime.
Is this a thing? I think the guy is just shitposting, people like individual Sunrise shows but there are so many studios and projects that I didn't think they really had fanboys.
Nah, Yamada's style doesn't fit Takemoto's style at all.
Takemoto is weak at human connection (though he became better at Amagi) which Yamada good at it. Ishihara is also good at human connection. Ishihara mentors Yamada is good experience for her. Ishihara is really good at it.
Why so many screenings? I know the manga was relatively popular in Japan but not that popular, did it even rank in the top 10 while it was being published? It did won a bunch of meme awards but that's about it. It has more screenings than K-On or Love Live, what the fuck?
Just use the promo art or whichever episode she's the animation director on.
Also, that Sawako is very Ikeda.
She's the sakkan on that episode and probably did the key animation herself.
Horiguchi was known for her line economy.
That Sawako pic doesn't represent her design well.
Sunrise earns more than the rest of other studios combined early, and while Gundam is big in its profits - its by far not the only.
You forget Sunrise also produces popular in japan kids show, Gintama and until recently Keroro Gunso (now its spot took 4: Tribe Cool Crew and still popular Phi Brain). They also produce biggest number of original shows and one in a few is a hit - latest being Geass, Tiger and Bunny, Love Live.
They score BIG hit every few years and earn a lot on merchandize for their shows. The only studio near them in profits is Toei - but they pretty much focused on kids shows.
And talking about Sunrise=Anime, its fact. There would not be "anime" if not for Sunrise, Toei, TMS, Tatsunoko. What you name "anime" is phenomenon created exclusively by them.
>And talking about Sunrise=Anime, its fact. There would not be "anime" if not for Sunrise, Toei, TMS, Tatsunoko.
Only Toei and TMS. I don't even know why you're including Sunrise in there. Most other studios outsource to Toei Philipines so in their case it would be literal that without Toei there wouldn't be anime. Sunrise mostly deals with late night anime, an industry so niche 2ch can make or break sales of a show if they wanted.
Basically this >>139794897.
Takemoto's direction is character development is really slow. When the character development already built, his direction will be top notch. That's why Disappearance was masterpiece, and Lucky Star was good under him (than Yamakan).
When I watched movie arc, I automatically thought "Yeah, Yamada or Ishihara would do this more better".
>it lacked of something.
Chitanda being more than a walking catch phrase. And still trying to push ahead with gradual romantic development without doing something to fix her. Why does Oreki fall for her when their interactions are meaningless shooting the shit solving mysteries?
And yet the 50 Cent Kanye relationship is so hot and works so well despite even less happening.
Keep being in denial.
>Reminder that Unicorn and Akito slaughtered all the other shows of its respective seasons that you fags were bickering about in the sales threads.
Haha no. Go look at their financial report and look at the franchises bringing in the dough. Even without idols and gundams, they're still achieving a hell lot more than a bunch of other studios.
The sequel to Finding Nemo is coming out this year, too. The Oscar will be that or zootopia. There are actually a bunch of animated movies, I would be very surprised if anything anime makes the ticket. Boy and the Beast might have the best shot judging on how big of a release Funimation gave it but any Oscar screener who watches it will roll their eyes at the last quarter of the film, it really goes off the deep end
Fixed, needed that Haru fluff all in there.
I'm not in denial, I just don't see why you would be a fanboy for Sunrise. All of /a/'s favorite studios, from kyoani to shaft to madhouse to ghibli to gainax, all of them have a unique style that they've created to make their mark on anime. Sunrise doesn't, there is no cure set if values behind their anime. They churn out a lot if material and have some very successful franchises, but who cares about the studio itself? The fact that you keep referencing profits and sales is very suspect as well, judge a studio by what they create, not their profit margins. And for the record I do like a lot of Sunrise's work
I'm gonna be in Japan at the same time in comes out, are there any gaijin theaters that show with subs in Tokyo? I'd watch it without but it would be nice to understand more than 50% of the dialogue.
I highly doubt it but I would definitely go if I were you just for the experience, the closer to opening day the better. Imagine how many kyoani fans will be there, you will get to see the popularity in Japan firsthand. Maybe read the manga if you haven't yet so you know what's going on
Are you an investor in the company? Why do you care so much about their finances?
And no, KyoAni shows have more quality than the average Sunrise show, not even up for discussion and only a blind person could even think about arguing this fact.
>The fact that you keep referencing profits and sales is very suspect
Funny how convenient it is when it's used against you when most times people use that as an opportunity to mock the flops that studios like KyoAni make.
For you. To me, Sunrise is great precisely because they can suit the style for the adaptations needed. And your unique style argument is rubbish because what you're really saying is the style of certain staff associated with certain studios. Sunrise is bigger and have bigger staff, so it's much more varied. And if you actually paid attention, you'll find that certain people have their own style and leave their own mark in Sunrise anime too. But of course, you'll disagree since you're like most studio fags: small minded and can't look at the broader view.
Oh, hi Sunrise fag, glad you joined the conversation. I'm not sure KyoAni gets to decide how many screenings it will have. That's usually the work of the publisher, which in this case is Shochiku. Just a bit of common sense trivia so next time you don't end up looking like a retard.
>52 chapters compressed into a 90 minute movie
It's over, Kyoani is finished
>Comparing a small studio like Kyoto Animation with a big one with several studio in it like Sunrise
How retarded are you all?
Oh wow this actually looks good, contender for AOTY desu
Even above average Sunrise shows like Love Live are absolute fucking garbage. Don't kid yourself, Sunrise has NOTHING to offer in terms of real quality. They're just a studio that shits out garbage for shit eaters to gobble up to make some money.
Looks pretty good. Damn I can't wait to see Ueno's thighs animated.
Thank you for the laughs, I had a good time chuckling to myself after reading your post. Shame on me for falling for the bait. In the chance event you are serious, well, please continue to enjoy your bland, characterless anime studio (except for Greco, tomino really blew it out of the park)
>claims Sunrise doesn't have a unique style
>bring in Tomino's name
>the one name that is notorious for being very different in how he directs
Thanks for amusing me too.
Old Sunrise was actually on par with old IG and Madhouse in terms of quality and animation. Once they found their sweet comfort zone they've been relegating sakuga and visual quality so much their shows look no different than Toei's for the most part. As long as they can keep milking their franchises they won't get back to making the masterpieces they made in the past.
Literally everything she has touched turned into a masterpiece.
Koe no Katachi is going to be a huge hit.
No, that's not a Sunrise anime, it's an Okada anime. Entirely different according to >>139795477
>Sunrise vs Kyoani
Why can't we just love them both since mecha and cute girls are the only good things in this medium?
They might as well just continue milking what they have.
I don't think we've ever seen SHAFT's financial reports so we don't know for sure if they are doing better or not. And Sunrise, Toei, IG, TMS, etc are fucking giants in the industry, it's only natural they're dealing with bigger profit margins, that doesn't mean they're better off though, they might have liabilities we don't know about.
>KyoAni shows cost below average to produce
>but its still the best looking modern piece of animation work in terms of production values and actual animators work put into it.
The movie has some nice animation, but really? There are many other contemporary movies that best its animation such as A Letter to Momo for character animation or Sword of the Stranger for action.
Your college prof for communication science should have told you that a tweet isn't a source.
There is no reason why Erkin Kawabata should know the budgets of KyoAni shows and other animation studios.
Just check their Trailer faggot.
Is there a girl more pure than Shouko?
>My favorite studio is better than your favorite studio
>Not trusting Kawabata
How can anyone doubt this man?
Poor A-1, they're actually owned by Aniplex yet they don't get the heavy hitter franchises like SHAFT does. Fucking shameful.
His tweet is based on hearsay so it's fair to take things with a grain of salt, but I won't be surprised if it's true if compared to more polished productions from other studios. KyoAni episodes use very little key animators compared to the industry average so that saves on labour costs.
They already have more hit under their belt compared to Shaft, who right now only have Monogatari to milk to death since all their new anime after Madoka have been flopped.
Even Mekaku would sell at least 30k under A-1, and somehow Shaft made Mekaku a laughing stock.
this. kinda unexpected.
even more so because they resemble both the original and kyoani at the same time.
that being said i'd have preferred it if they changed it to be more kyoani-like
First volume sold 11.5k, but the average cumulative is somewhere around 7 and 8k, you do the math
