Why do people still use batoto? It's objectively a shit website whose only saving grace is that they don't compress, but they're not even alone in that.
>>
It has a black background
>>
Why do people still use online readers?
>>
It doesn't watermark either and it's the first place some scans are released.
Plus goddess dies at least once a week, it's a good backup.
>>
>>139778399

Used to use it since translators supported it (do they still give some ad revenue back to the translators?).

Dropped it after I discovered the scrolling sites that allow you to read the entire chapter in one page (vs loading every time you go to a new page).
>>
>>139778399
Guys where can I download this? It is not even in the meguca site.

>>139784724
ZIP is still a shit format and doesn't magically format comics the right way. There's a reason CBZ/CBR exists. The fact that no scanlators use it just shows how ignorant they are. So their scanlations probably aren't even worth it
>>
>>139788345
CBZ is literally just renamed ZIP. And CBR is RAR which you really shouldn't use ever.

That's an improvement. My first year with a tripcode only had around 9K shitposts.
>>
>>139788395
I just wish they had some more control over what gets uploaded so they could force some proper file naming scheme and cut down on the dupes from different online reader rips.

And yeah, MT was shit as well, I just hoped we could improve.
>>
>>139788345
While it might work for comics, it might not work for manga, the average comic has 50+ pages, while the average manga chapter has only 20.

It might say though, I find the prospect of making a website that utilizes the CBX format for reading mangos something worth the research at least.

There's literally no logic behind these two separate statements. Why did you tie them together? The average manga has 200 pages. But I'll have to depend on the western comic pirate scene to have the decency to upload Manga in the right format at high quality.
>>
Mein Kampf is not in the meguca site.

Pointless because you load by page. Total shit.

>>139779556
>do they still give some ad revenue back to the translators
Of course not. It's used to keep the servers online and to fill their pockets. Scanlators receive nothing for them shoving in an ad each page.

>>139787423
>>139785435
Only if we could upload scanlation content to them ourselves.

You do know that there are browser addons that allow you to load entire chapters on sites that normally only allow you to load page by page, right?
>>
>>139788345
I think it's fine to leave it as a zip or rar, though I never thought people would actually read like that. I like being able to unzip things to delete credits etc before zipping them again, I just batch rename the filetype afterwards.
>>
>>139782827

This right here
>>

>It's objectively a shit website
nope
>whose only saving grace is that they don't compress
And a lot of scanlators exclusively use it, and you can follow multiple series and have a list of recently released chapter (not just latest).

Oh don't get me wrong, it has problems, but from a reader's perspective it really isn't bad at all.

Bitching and moaning about removed content is so absurd I can't understand why you still do it. Sure, series I read on batoto have been removed -- I didn't cry about it. The admins are retards but the good far outweighs the bad from a practical standpoint.
>>
>>139794012
The one I used for batoto hasn't worked on batoto in ages because they changed the way image loading works.
>>
>>139782804
>owns a tablet
>uses a reader site instead of downloading your mangoes and using a reader app

why do this
>>
>>139788255
1. get into secret club
2. go to the wiki page
3. follow the instruction
4. you're in
>>
>>139789695
>The average manga has 200 pages
Yeah, tank releases.
But if you're following an ongoing manga, you'll 90% of the time be reading the magazine scans. And those are released with ~10-30 pages per release, more if it's a monthly magazine.
And even scanlations of tanks are normally released in chapters (which again are around 20 pages, more if monthly magazine).
>>
>>139788345
I've only ever encountered problems with zips if the idiot who zipped it used a stupid file structure. Otherwise, no issues. I don't get the "need" for .cbr files that comic-readers have.

Infinite scroll is only useful on the web because it saves time spent waiting for the next image to load. Off-line readers are generally so snappy that there's no point, and infinite scroll makes it harder to just view a single page nicely centred; it makes you scroll more so it actually slows down reading and it's less comfortable.

Kissmanga barely compresses either and they have the whole chapter in one page, already objectively better than 99% of the crap out there.
I mostly read offline though unless I just want to look up a random page, be it on my phone or desktop.
>>
>>139794230
What has that to do with them not releasing them in the proper format? RAR/ZIP WILL mess up the order of your files
>>
>>139794176
because they have infinite scroll?
>>
>>139794314
There's no need for anything. Right? That's your logic. Despite having encountered problems there's no need for a fix!

>>139797708
>infinite scroll is only usefull
No, it's always usefull. It keeps your eyes on the same height so it reads faster
>>
>tfw you've given up on reading manga
I just don't find it fun unless I'm reading a complete series in one go.
>>
>>139801088
Nice falseflag daiz. You ain't standardizing shit.
>>
>>139788433
And what research would that be, genius? CBZ is literally just a ZIP archive with the extension renamed. It's not going to magically affect the formatting of anything at all. Same goes CBR being renamed RAR.

(And there is zero point to using CBR/RAR for comic/manga distribution over CBZ/ZIP, in fact it's pretty much purely detrimental.)

>>139801088
The only thing that will mess up file order is bad filenames inside the archives (and whether the extension is ZIP or CBZ doesn't affect that one bit).

>>139801933
My manga filename scheme was a theoretical approach to optimal naming in the first place, build with the idea that it would be nice if everyone used it but no real expectations that anyone would.

Nicely enough a bunch of people at madokami have actually started using it, though!
>>
>>139801088
I've literally never had an issue with the "order of files" that wasn't the scanlator's fault.
>>
>>139802390
Oh shit, we summoned him! I thought you guys said it wouldn't work anymore!

Yeh, but its kind of a pain becuase it only supports bato.to and a few other sites so lewd manga like Sundome and Nozoki ana you have to find torrents for.

Kind of a pain.
