Raws out, now we wait for subs.
>now we wait for subs
I just love all the complaining about lack of subs from people who are used to just getting rips straight from crunchyroll within hours. This sort of shit takes time, the fact that there's even a raw up is kind of a miracle. Try waiting months for subs of some things like I've had to for some OVAs and Movies like Yamato 2199 or Votoms or even years in the case of some older anime or those that would air during pre-crunchyroll times. Usually you didn't get subs till as long as 20 hours later if you were lucky.
Saw first episode, like I expected it was alright and kind of a combination of everything WIT has animated up to this point and some character and setting introductions. Music was pretty generic Sawano but of the tolerable sort so far and he manages to hold off on the vocal spamming at least until the final big action scene. It's all pretty damn textbook action anime so far and to be honest the animation wasn't as great as I expected and kind of choppy but the art quality looked above average for TV in a lot of scenes. Not the god tier quality some are making it out as. Like pure 7/10 tier premiere pretty much. This is probably the peak of the show too before it really starts going off the rails so not particularly high expectations.
Yes, he is. He may be smart in the sense that he invented a new gun and was able to stop his transformation, but he doesn't use his head in situations that matter.
He may not be a pussy but he's definitely not smart or logical. He needlessly put himself in danger to test his new toy. He lost his specimen because he couldn't keep his mouth shut because muh morals.
He's quite full of anger and rage. I don't expect him to be Oberstein or any other cold genius.
I would say he has an above average level of intelligence for a teen and is into nerdy things with a motivation driving him, but otherwise he's not exactly brilliant or mature.
Seems the HorribleSubs release is just a screen recording from Amazon. It's hardsubbed
How is it not? Did we not watch the same show?
Why the fuck don't they wait for the train to approach and stop before lowering the bridge (like they did for the first train?). They could've had the infected train just derail instead of ramming into the city.
He does use his head in every situation.
He lost his specimens because a man was about to be wrongfully killed. Those police/bushi where not even following their own rules out of fear, he simply told them to calm down, enfore the law and lock the guy up.
He was the only logical person in the entire scenario, fuck him for caring about people right?
The invention of his weapon can possible save his world, just cause he has the balls to put to use his weapon doesn't make him stupid.
It was smart of him to lure the kabane to him home and actually use his weapon, now he knows it works.
You're being absurd if you think his actions are unjustified.
Seems like HS went for the lazy route and instead of using a TV RAW they just carefully recorded the amazon stream.
Well, time to see what DameDesuYo has to offer later. They are subbing this as well after all.
Losing the specimen was stupid. He couldn't prioritize. His research for the greater good or 1 faggot?
If he had died and the weapon had failed, the invention would've died with him. Stupid on gamble on his part. He could've tested it at least once before luring the zombie.
Cause the guy signaled them early, with the first train they got there, stopped, then signaled.
The men on the bridge just heard the signal and let down the bridge, none of them knew the zombies could hijack a train.
No it wasn't a typical zombie action show.
From the entire dynamic surrounding suicide bags, to the rural japan industrialization steam punk setting, with all the factions/class and society system in place.
This level of detail alone sets apart from the rest.
Not to mention it's not just a group of 3-5 survivors, it's an entire community of people all under attack, unlike your typic zombie action show.
>Kabane seem to be pretty intelligent
Araki did say he got the inspiration from Land of the Dead.
I kinda like this style WIT are using for her.
Who signaled them? I'm not going to rewatch it, but from what I remember 1 guy was like "oh, train is arriving" and because of that they decided to drop the bridge.
You would think they would've implemented a system to keep dumb shit like this from happening.
I seriously doubt it's going to have much time to explore that so much as zombies and fanservice and craziness for another 11 episodes. If it does I'd be pleasantly surprised but Okouchi doesn't seem the type to go in depth on that sort of stuff in a short amount of time or at least not in a way that isn't stark and black and white.
youre not in snowpiercer, tho
youre in the city so i guess it's more like god eater or whatever that garbage show was that ufotable dropped only slightly slower than its viewers did
Again, they should've implemented a system to check that a train isn't overrun before lowering the bridge.
Having a train stop and the conductor come out to signal would've been an easy solution to prevent the whole mess. The way they wrote the story was just lazy.
That's the part that kind of surprised me and sort of not. I was expecting a bit of a drop off but not for it to be so noticeably choppy in some scenes. Its like when they were adding all this detail and shading they didn't entirely realize that they still had to make it move. There were even some moments of QUALITY too but the Sakuga sets or what we got of them at least worked well enough. Its pretty obvious this shows going to have the usual WIT struggles already within the first episode kind of like how it went with Owari. They're just so uneven, one scene can look well above average for TV animation and then the one right after can look noticeably below.
How many episodes until WIT is out of budget?
I say 3.
It was most noticeable in the scene where all the greasy men were being introduced to the governors daughter chick. I get the feeling the shows going to be blowing 95% of its budget on some key action scenes here and there
The scene where the one chock kicked a zombies head off with bladed boots was kind of hilarious. Most of the big more memorable action scenes will probably be in the next episode and then the production will shit itself I imagine. If not great but I'm not holding my breath.
A show like this, regardless of the cost cutting Wit will need to do, should be viewed in a high bitrate. Shit sucks, because TVrips aren't good enough either.
MC has potential with his craziness
Nice shaders at some points
Kabaneri are more interesting than titan
Girls are cute
It was a good introduction but also pretty bare
The whole train attack seems kinda forced
This anime made me hate Amazon
This is 4chan, if they say it's okay that actually means it was as good as it could possible better.
Especially since the show looked like Aot it automatically gets hate.
It's kind of sad that you asked for 4chans opinion desu
What bugs me is that they do have lights and train horns so they could have easily developed a signal when approaching the station, but they ignored that option in the twenty or so years that they have been doing this.
I think they wanted to show with the innocent guy dying that the people actually have no idea how the Kabane virus/curse/thing actually works.
Okouchi. Who has a thing for magical deceases, curses and viruses.
6/10, It was decent. I'm really loving the girl designs and Mumei seems pretty interesting.
Not a fan of the MC or the bullshit of already knowing how to stop the virus.
It's got potential for sure but you know they're gonna do some stupid shit with it to appeal to the masses.
No it's okay actually means it's better than everything else this season.
Shows that are called master pieces are shit boku no pico academia, and shit shows are shit here. mayoiga
No, it doesn't. Best shit this season based on the literal one episode we have so far is Delta and Joker Game, maybe Re:Zero as well.
>inb4 but it has dancing girls, you can't like it!
Back to middle school.
>Guilty Crown alien crystal virus
>Space Vampire thing
And Mumei is also a Kabaneri and the main girl..
It obviously won't but imagine if the whole show looked this good.
I thought it was pretty good. I'm not going to lie though, there was some definite shades of AoT. At least the Mikasa like character has more personality.
The shading was great and I like the character designs, I was Luke warm on AoT, but I'm liking this as of episode 1. Also, I love action on trains, it just hits that sweet spot.
That explanation doesn't make sense. No virus or infection works like that.
It would have been better if it was a curse. If it's a magical thing, things don't have to make sense.
He makes some mistakes, but that doesn't mean he's an idiot, it means he's human. He's not the cool-headed glasses guy MC who logically makes every decision with cold calculation. He's the hot-blooded guy out for revenge who's also intelligent enough to make things go his way.
It's the first episode os god knows where this is going to go, but he put his feelings first about saving a man's life over just getting another specimen. That doesn't make him stupid, it sets the tone of his character as intelligent but emotional. Further, he clearly had figured out how he thought he was going to stop the virus long before he was ever attacked since he had that equipment on hand and at the ready. Yeah he's smart, but he's cocksure and given to emotion. So far he comes off as a consistent character. Though the mechanism by which he didn't die is not yet explained.
Now this is just about the character being "stupid." This isn't a statement about whether this show is going to be any good because it's only the first episode. But people who say it makes no sense are clearly too stupid to even watch cartoons.
Just think of it as a parasite with very poor survivability on its own.
>If it's a magical thing, things don't have to make sense.
It's a fictional virus, it might as well be magic. I swear, people get hung up on these irrelevancies way too much.
Calling it now so i can say told ya so. This is just a slightly more creative Attack on Titan. It will get popular and when it does they'll pander to the masses and ruin the anime by doing it.
Why would they wait to lower the bridge for the first train, but not for the other?
I was really hoping they wouldn't have the second train be filled with zombies which is what literally any person would expect. I was really hoping they would surprise me and be creative. They weren't.
>It's clearly some kind of magic. The virus stuff is just the explanation the people in-universe have come up with because they don't know shit.
It was obvious it's the other way around. Everyone thinks it's a supernatural thing but the MC, who thinks it's a virus. Except that his method of stopping the infection only makes sense in the real of magic. The whole thing is just stupid as fuck.
>He makes some mistakes, but that doesn't mean he's an idiot, it means he's human
Idiotic actions are idiotic.
>he clearly had figured out how he thought he was going to stop the virus long before he was ever attacked
Choking yourself so that an infection or virus doesn't reach your brain is probably one of the dumbest things on the show. That's not how infections or viruses work. I get you're supposed to have a degree of suspension of disbelief but you have to admit that was retarded story writing.
>in the realm of magic
I'm going to be honest, if it was just magic and the key to stopping a curse was choking yourself, that'd be even dumber, unless this were actually some sort of BDSM fetish-comedy.
>one scene can look well above average for TV animation and then the one right after can look noticeably below.
You must be blind, because so far it has been above average the whole time. I'm not sure if you realize how low the average every season is, and this first episode certainly wasn't below.
If you choke yourself for a bit you don't prevent all blood flow to your brain.
If you successfully choke yourself, you'll become brain dead.
Virus/Infections cannot realistically be purged from the body so quickly that he only needs to stop blood flow for a few seconds.
Stupid, lazy writing.
After 20 years of that shit you would think they would've implemented a safety mechanism for instances like this. Like a whistle code the conductor needs to do before the bridge is lowered.
It's plain and simple lazy writing. Drama/dumbshit happening for the sake of moving the plot forward.
Inasmuch as it really doesn't matter unless it becomes a plothole later in the series, my guess is that the virus only spreads for so long, like until it reaches the heart, so restricting the brain's blood during that period means it just stops.
I honestly thought he was going to get the bionic arm just by cutting it off, but then how would he become HALF KABANE!?
I don't know why people are in a tizzy, I thought we all came here to watch a trainwreck that might accidentally turn out good rather than the other way around.
>expecting realism in that setting.
Guess what. Cyberpunk makes zero sense as well.
Those that make the setting shit tho? No.
If anything i wonder why him nearly strangling himself to death changed his haircolor.
>Drama/dumbshit happening for the sake of moving the plot forward.
Yes, that's how plots work. If you want things to happen according to full causality and not the will of a writer, then stop bothering with fiction and just videotape a train station. Maybe if you're rich you could get someone to rotoscope it, even.
He has no idiotic actions, all of his actions have logical reasoning and justification behind them.
He's passionate, strong willed and very tough, he's also an active MC unlike the typical reactive character.
He's the best MC of 2016 so far.
>Cyberpunk makes zero sense as well
Cyberpunk makes plenty of sense, because all the cybershit is a fairly reasonable expectation of the future, or at least it was 30 years ago.
And the cybershit really is just a plot device to develop characters.
Steampunk is distinct, despite having been kicked off by the same person.
I know. My point simply was that the zombies being super strong and the infection being magic is perfectly fine.
Be it cyberpunk, steampunk or whatever.
The only thing i critize this episode for is the retardness that was train wrecking the wall and the lack of explaination for the sake of action.
>that's how plots work
kek. So glad the rest of the world of fiction and writing isn't on your tier of stupid.
First ep. out and Ikomafag already detected.
Then..instead of being able to stop a virus by choking yourself you can stop magical curses by self-asphyxiation. Not sure which one is worse.
>If anything i wonder why him nearly strangling himself to death changed his haircolor.
No oxygen, stress and fear.
>trying to set up a story
>art looks nice
>but it's fucking Attack on Titan
Why do this?
What the fuck were you expecting for m a show that takes place in the not-edo period with trains and pile bunkers?
Confirmed not knowing anything about the brain. You can live for several minutes without blood flow to the brain before getting brain damage. You can continue to live for longer with the risk of brain damage. You are conscious for a while then you pass out but you still live for much longer and if blood flow is restored you'll come out alive but probably worse for the wear.
But this isn't even pretending to be hard science. It has the appeal of an 80s action flick. It is wholly without the pretension that would warrant legitimate hate just because something "does not make sense."
>if it was just magic and the key to stopping a curse was choking yourself, that'd be even dumber, unless this were actually some sort of BDSM fetish-comedy.
If it was magic, they could use something else to stop the curse, like the stone in his hand. The choking thing was stupid anyway.
>MC gets bitten
>freaks out for a moment
>survival instinct kicks in and tries to find a solution
What the hell am I watching? A survival horror anime with people really trying to survive? Are characters not going to cry until someone saves their asses or they die after minutes of pain?
Guys, the episode is fucking great, better than literally everything else this season.
This, joker game and re:zero(yes i know it's generic light novel trash)
are the only things worth watching.
I really hope this show doesn't get too hype, that will bring in even more hate for no real reason.
>What the fuck were you expecting for m a show that takes place in the not-edo period with trains and pile bunkers?
So that's your excuse for accepting flimsy writing? Ok. If you enjoy it, that's you. I don't know why you're trying to convince me to accept a shoddily written show.
>b-b-but you disagree with me!
Lots of good fiction writing doesn't even rely on realistic causality. Like movies that people watch forever, or 2-dimensional beings holding conversations with spheres, or computers that can manipulate the human form at will with no explanation.
Berserker? Is that you?
I'm pretty sure it's the same guy who was going around saying he "wasn't reactionary" today and yesterday until I corrected him to reactive. Proof once again that the people who flip out over anyone who dares to be beta are autistic retards.
Ace Attorney already takes that crown.
>most boring script ever
The videogame curse lives on. Not a single not-awful videogame adaption exists.
Them lowering the bridge before even seeing the train is shitty writing because it literally contradicts what we saw earlier in the episode where the Koutetsujou was stopped outside of the bridge.
But it doesn't matter, it's such a ridiculously petty thing to be upset about. It's like getting upset that RPGs have revival items but also have permadeath in cutscenes.
>Then..instead of being able to stop a virus by choking yourself you can stop magical curses by self-asphyxiation.
He was only choking himself because he thought that it would stop the virus. However, it really was his determination combined with the power of the magic stone he had that stopped the transformation. The two things could not be connected at all
Persona 4 had it good parts. Like the part where they all get drunk or gay Kanji.
But overall the execution was just pretty slow and bad. The action scenes were also pretty poor.
I'm saying what the point of criticizing it on the merits of its science or rationality when that's clearly not the point? Yes you can, that's a legitimate way of going about it, but the mantra is to repeat to yourself its just a show and relax. I didn't watch Mahou shoujo nante moiidesukara last season for a realistic take on the effects of being a mahou shoujo on a child. Criticizing it on those merits would be missing the point.
And no, I'm not saying this show will be good, but in a bombastic action show you expect things to be stupid. If they're not, then you can be surprised. The writing isn't much more flimsy than say the original terminators or shaun of the dead.
That's my excuse for accepting flimsy writing. If the show made some pretense of being smart when it wasn't (aldnoah.zero) I'd be far less forgiving, but as a person who watches both arthouse films and bad b-moves I'm capable of appreciating works on what merits seem applicable.
Yeah it was stupid and they could have written around it, but they actually tried to write around it and according to the internal logic of the show, what happened made sense minus the part where the entire gate exploded.
You know, train disasters are a thing even today.
Until someone as smart as you comes up and says "HE GUYS, WE COULD HAVE DONE X, DUH!", but always after the disaster happened.
Humans are fucking retard and that train accident could totally happen in real life - without the zombies.
But it seems rather forced. Like they need to crash the wall in episode 1.
That happened in the original SDF macross as well as Macross 7 or did you forget about how they beat the protodevlin.
Macross Zero was literally about magical songs and the "magic" of delta is justified as being technology.
You pretend like you know macross but it sounds like you haven't watched any of them.
I present you: the second-ever funny gag in an Araki show.
I want to watch this garbage to see what everyone is freaking out about but i dont want to watch the shitty HS rip
Fucking amazing episode, has a lot of potential like usual. The question is if it will go to shit.
MC seems really good for once, he actually gets shit done. Glad his past was showed in a small flashback, which will probably be expanded in future episodes.
Not an entire episode of "don't kill my mom!" and Yuki Kaji screaming like SnK.
Needs a better rip though, Jaka fucked it up. If it's not sorted by next week it's going to be shit.
Not him, but in official correspondence via email from people 20 years my senior I've seen the use of (?). It's not the same as using text speak and merely indicates that one's information in a declarative statement is lacking. There's lots of shit I wouldn't give a pass on this board, but that's not one of them.
Also I bet you fags still accept ;_;.
>Shaun of the Dead
Both films I didn't enjoy. I didn't watch Mahou shoujo but for examples sake, lets say I did - I wouldn't have had went in with the same expectations. When watching something like Nichibros,I'm totally OK with stupid shit because it's intentionally meant to be stupid.
Unfortunately, Kabeneri (and even the MC) takes itself much too seriously. Maybe not on the level of aldnoah.zero, but I get the impression that the directors were going for something epic and more than just mindless fun and it's just frustrating to watch something that could've been great if they actually sat down to think about the writing.
Plenty of people who aren't teenage retards use ellipses in writing, too, but that's not accepted. Excessive parentheses and dash use is also common among people who aren't teenage retards, as are numbered lists, etc.
We're discussing a show that's not only done by the people who did SnK, it's a show that has so far played out a lot like SnK. It was hyped and is backed by Amazon so it has a big budget. There was absolutely no way in hell these threads wouldn't be garbage.
HS was like
>TV raw is out and so are the subs but putting those subs on the raw is some sort of work - Meh
>Let's just record the hardsubbed stream and see how that works
Apparently not very well.
>After 20 years of that shit you would think they would've implemented a safety mechanism for instances like this. Like a whistle code the conductor needs to do before the bridge is lowered.
How are they supposed to set the standard among the stations if the only way to connect them is the train? And what if they need to update the safety measure? Also what about Doppler effect?
It's in the name.
There's nothing wrong with posting numbered lists on 4chan. We just don't because
>type like this.
As for ellipsis, that's misused in casual writing so I don't give it a pass.
It's the ribbon that was used to strangle her and prevent the virus from reaching her brain. She takes it off symbolically to mean she's going to kick ass because she's kabane. Kind of like throwing down a glove.
Do you even know how often a train arrives at each station? And what if there is a disagreement on the code among the stations? How long would it take to set the standard?
Also you think this is something easy and HURR DURR EVERYONE WOULD DO IT, but guess what, we got plenty of fuckups in the past 2 centuries because scientist had different standards. And we aren't living in a world full of zombies, so we have plenty of time to think about shit like that.
That bothered me a lot too, but they seem to believe it's a curse rather than a virus. The MC made it sound like an average person thought of it so at least, which is retarded in it's own right.
>Why would anyone want to watch this?
Why would anyone want to shitpost with an image of a deceased VA's character.
Learn some respect you fucking scum.
It is so give it a try, the art/animation are fucking top notch. Bound to be one of the bigger anime this season for sure.
>It's the ribbon that was used to strangle her and prevent the virus from reaching her brain.
Can't tell if a legit spoiler or not, but given the show's logic, it could make sense.
But most VN adaptions are also pretty bad. Which is no surprise considering lots of those VNs have multiple routes and adapting those isn't easy. Especially if you want to pander to everyone.
>can choke yourself to stop infection
>can't cut off limb before infection spread
it was also too edgy. Looked good, but not on that HS release. Show looking that good deserves much better.
It is not because of the brain. The MC is going to special and no one is going to know why, but it is actually the stupid stone on his hand. It does when it touches it.
So you're just shitposting at this point. If you're going to use something go with moralfag. It actually fits the criticism as opposed to SJW which is a completely different personality.
Except not? I've seen numbered lists used in many threads in the 8 years I've been here. People used to bitch about the rampant misuse of the
indicator but people gave up and it became part of the "culture." That doesn't mean it's not okay to post a numbered list.
And if I wrote:
>Exactly, there's... typing that's used here.
That would be a rare case of acceptable use of ellipsis. Though only marginally since that actually butchers the original sentence.
The other problem with VNs is that they're just too long and for whatever reason the cover-part-of-it-next-season-probably-never method of adapting doesn't seem to have caught on with them. A two-cour anime adaptation of a VN might cover as much material in terms of words and/or reading time as a long-running battle shounen adaptation.
Wait, what the fuck is happening in this thread why are people calling the MC a sjw? Did you fuck start watching anime yesterday and you never saw a MC try to protect someone who is being wrongly accused? What the hell is going on here, are we being raided by /v/?
Whatever. As I proved you are complaining about something that happens in real life too.
Standards are hard to set.
People think it is a curse and they freak out. There is no point in cutting his hand if his friends will kill him while he is sleeping.
So the girl has zombie body but normal brain and is immune to getting infected again, It most likely happened to her the same way it did to MC.
The ruling class knows about this, why aren't they mass producing super soldiers like her to fight the zombies?
I bet he originally built that machine for erotic asphyxiation.
You just proved my point
>and the MC's being edge incarnate was just annoying.
Hyperbole to justify being contrarian so you can fit in, you scroll up there's people claiming the polar opposite that he's a white knight.
I'm just hoping that's the case. It would be pretty clever and fit in so far with what happened in the episode.
I'm giving the silly writing a pass not because it's going to be AOTY but because it's a show like mayoiga that has a greater chance to be a trainwreck and thus fun. IT also has some chance to actually be decent. But unlike mayoiga threads, people here are either too eager into making it into worst trash of all time or AOTS.
You guys are no fucking fun.
Kendama girl is going to be one also. Calling it.
The loli? Most likely, if it does give super human powers. But it also imply that losing the stone could mean dead, or for some reason it is super secret and she let her guard die even though she could prevent it. This is why I think she could just be ridiculously strong fighter for no reason instead.
>Fantastic edge there
Ironic coming from the faggot shitposting while disrespecting a deceased VA.
Hang yourself edgelord.
It's not but your taste certainly is.
Contrarian shitposters and attempting to preemptively hate this, because they think it will be the next SnK. Also >>139766579
>MC's being edge incarnate was just annoying.
So wanting to survive is now edge incarnate? Great logic.
You should kill yourself then, because you're not edgy and want to die.
I was kind of almost expecting worst threads somehow. Still trying to enjoy anime with the online community like the days of old is just a waste of time since most people just want to shitpost now. I've been slowly but surely grinding down Stardust Crusaders months after it ended and it's so much more fun that way. Occasionally I just shoot a comment to a friend on Skype or something and we laugh and comment and it's you know fun
Just pointing out your argument is dumb. Its hard for the world to consolidate under 1 measurement unit because countries have already been so entrenched and invested (culturally and monetarily) in their respective units.
It's another thing to not be able to establish any sort of protocol for entering or communicating with a station within 20 years - especially if the livelihood of humanity depended on it. Even the most backward country can establish this.
It's alright. Visually looks very good, voice acting and music was good.
The only thing to be wondering is the writing. Could end up being good, could be trainwreck of the season. Need a few eps to find out.
>enjoying the episode
>Sawano vocal(TM) track kicks in
>MC's being edge incarnate was just annoying.
That didn't happen? He is a passionate guy bent on revenge on zombies in a zombie apocalypse. That's edgy? Why are you even watching a zombie show?
>if anyone like this it must be /v/
Fuck off. I watched Shouwa genroku rakugo and Ooyasan was shishunki last season and still found enjoyment in this episode. This is why "hyped" show threads are so shit. There's no middle ground.
>especially if the livelihood of humanity depended on it.
It doesn't. The train can skip the station, as we have already seen in this episode.
We don't even know if these stations are allied or if they have interest in communicating AT ALL with people on the outside.
>enjoying the episode
>Super Exciting Araki speedlines kick in
>worst trash of all time or AOTS.
I rate it 6/10.
But shit writing is shit writing. I don't see a problem in pointing it out and I think people who are actively denying it to be delusional.
Its starting to become impossibly annoying because we never end up discussing plot or anything until we are halfway into whatever show because each season the shitposting increases
