I just love all the complaining about lack of subs from people who are used to just getting rips straight from crunchyroll within hours. This sort of shit takes time, the fact that there's even a raw up is kind of a miracle. Try waiting months for subs of some things like I've had to for some OVAs and Movies like Yamato 2199 or Votoms or even years in the case of some older anime or those that would air during pre-crunchyroll times. Usually you didn't get subs till as long as 20 hours later if you were lucky.

Saw first episode, like I expected it was alright and kind of a combination of everything WIT has animated up to this point and some character and setting introductions. Music was pretty generic Sawano but of the tolerable sort so far and he manages to hold off on the vocal spamming at least until the final big action scene. It's all pretty damn textbook action anime so far and to be honest the animation wasn't as great as I expected and kind of choppy but the art quality looked above average for TV in a lot of scenes. Not the god tier quality some are making it out as. Like pure 7/10 tier premiere pretty much. This is probably the peak of the show too before it really starts going off the rails so not particularly high expectations.

Having a train stop and the conductor come out to signal would've been an easy solution to prevent the whole mess. The way they wrote the story was just lazy.

That's the part that kind of surprised me and sort of not. I was expecting a bit of a drop off but not for it to be so noticeably choppy in some scenes. Its like when they were adding all this detail and shading they didn't entirely realize that they still had to make it move. There were even some moments of QUALITY too but the Sakuga sets or what we got of them at least worked well enough. Its pretty obvious this shows going to have the usual WIT struggles already within the first episode kind of like how it went with Owari. They're just so uneven, one scene can look well above average for TV animation and then the one right after can look noticeably below.

It's the first episode os god knows where this is going to go, but he put his feelings first about saving a man's life over just getting another specimen. That doesn't make him stupid, it sets the tone of his character as intelligent but emotional. Further, he clearly had figured out how he thought he was going to stop the virus long before he was ever attacked since he had that equipment on hand and at the ready. Yeah he's smart, but he's cocksure and given to emotion. So far he comes off as a consistent character. Though the mechanism by which he didn't die is not yet explained.

Now this is just about the character being "stupid." This isn't a statement about whether this show is going to be any good because it's only the first episode. But people who say it makes no sense are clearly too stupid to even watch cartoons.
